progex 11-03-2002, 07:08 PM nVidia GF4 Ti 4600 128MB DDR w/TV Out & DVI & Video Inp
I'd get this card. It should last you a good few years for the next generation of games to take advantage of the card.
If you really want to show off and have money to 'waste', go with the Radeon 9700 (even though none of the games really take advantage of the card).
:)

Nice configuration, however, it all depends on the price. :) The video card could be upgraded, and quite possibly the HD. As for the HD, go with the Western Digital (8mb cache) Special Edition drives. :)
progex 11-03-2002, 07:15 PM Just found this hot deal from Anandtech, check into it:

If you're unfamiliar with the Golden Sample cards, they're basically overlocked cards that can be pushed so that they are comparable to the ti4600.
Acronym BOY 11-03-2002, 07:21 PM I wouldnt get a SB if my life depended on it.

:) Ummh that one's like $300. I'm not going to buy it just to have it, I have 16 MB Voodoo right now, and it works just fine. Resolution/Graphics are very good...

viGeek 11-03-2002, 11:59 PM Iamdave, when having a system built or even building one. There is a term called "bottleneck syndrome", this is where you build an awesome machine, and leave a key aspect of the computer without a good performing counter-part.
I consider upgrading/building computers, just like a car.
You add that 502 big block chevy. Supercharger, air intake. And then leave it with a stock exaust sytem. It just isnt going to be pretty.
Therefore, with your current spec sheet, I would say get at least a TI 4200 64MB.
But then again, its only a suggestion :)
JeremyV 11-04-2002, 12:13 AM I'm a little dissapointed. I just got UT2003 today, and my 1ghz machine with a GF2 64mb DDR card isn't quite cutting it :( I have to have most options turned to low, and then even in high action situations it slows down quite a bit.
I built this computer close to 3 years ago now, so I know it is time for an upgrade. I just can't afford to build a new one right now :( But I want to play the game how it was meant to be played... :bawling:
