If its for personal use/testing/whatever and you have a vista machine, could you bear the slowness of just running it on your home internet connection? Vista has sharepoint services 3.0 as a component so you can run it so long as you know how to set up the network side of it. Just an idea to save you some money until you definitely need a real sharepoint host.
