I`ve been looking into utilising Interac as a payment option for Canadian clients. A few years ago, Interac was little used as an online payment option, but it seems to be getting a little more exposure recently. It`s long overdue that Canada had some kind of bank debit card payment option online.
I would like to know a little more about implementing Interac for use online and what processors are recommended.
I have a Scotiabank small business package with them, however I have not explored the Interac option with them yet.

I don't know if you are already with a merchant provider but InternetSecure in Oakville will allow you to accept Interac transactions online.

Presently, no. I am just using 2CO and Paypal at the moment, maybe if demand meets the need I might apply for a merchant account. 2CO does everything we need at the moment (apart from interac).
There`s a list on the Interac website I just found

Is it only for Canada domestic or do you also have other international pay-ins/pay-outs via bank transfers?

I called several merchant providers that offer Interac processing, but the majority are talking a minimum of several thousand transactions a month for Interac. It`s catch 22 as they want some kind of projection on your monthly Interac transaction before looking at you, but I have no idea whether Interac would take off or not so what can you tell them!! I can now see why most Canadian providers and online businesses stick with Credit Card and Paypal.

Hi Bob,
I have the same package with ScotiaBank. If you signed up within the last 6 months, you would have gotten a huge folder with all sorts of account information and a pamplet for Chase Paymentech. If you get a referral from ScotiaBank, they will give you a discount. I would book an appointment with your Small Business Officer (i think that's what they are called) and talk to them about this.

Yes, just two weeks ago in fact and yes I got a whole bunch of reading material which sorry to say I have yet to study. I went full steam ahead in getting my banking online setup and my processors/bank account tied together for use.
I`m going to see if I can get an evening appointment with my local branch this week. I really want to explore this Interac option, a lot of Canadian`s carry an Interac card.

Cool. At your appointment, they will just ask for the best way to contact you and send that info off to Chase Paymentech. When I got a referral, a rep called me 2 business days later. I didn't get the prices for Interac processing, but I do recall that it was in addition to the monthly fees for credit card transactions.
Good luck :)
