Anyone point me in the direction of a premade PHP backend I can use on a website template?
Something that you can enter all the basics, welcome message, news, articles and so on that can then be called anywhere you want on your template with just a $header.
I am sure you get the idea, just not explaining myself well tonight

I think your best bet would be to look at comdev. Has a lot of applications which you can pre-install including blogs, forums, e-commerce etc.
Hope this helps

I'd say install a CMS like Mambo and just make your template work for it.

Yeah that is also an option but I would look at all of the CMS options before choosing mambo - I have had a lot of bad experiences with it...

I honestly don't know anything about any of the CMS software. I think the most I've done is installed PHP-Nuke for my mother, and that was the most crappy experience ever.

There's also Drupal, Joomla and Wordpress to name a few ;)

Are you using a cpanel server? You can install php website templates using fantastico. Fantastico provides easy installation and configuration of CMS and php website templates.
Hope this helps :)
