View Full Version : Yahoo! Domains Still Offer $1,99 for First Year
lorian 05-10-2009, 07:21 PM Dear Friends
I read on someone blog post that Yahoo! Domains still offer $1,99 for first year only. I check it and it was true. The promotional code is "BESTDEAL" and will expires on 6/30/2009.
Guys there's problem here. When i try to signup, i see that their domain's renewal going to be $34. Its shocking price.
But i still want to register probably two domains (two .com). And after successfully registered, i plan to transfer both domains immediately to other registars.
My question: Is it possible? Please let me know the best way to do that!
Thank You,
Lorian
Techno 05-10-2009, 07:42 PM After 60 days (ICANN rule) you can transfer the domains to another registrar but you will have to pay for an additional year at the new registrar. I believe Yahoo only allows 1 domain at $1.99.
lorian 05-10-2009, 08:37 PM Thank for replying. Yes you're right, to register multiple domain, we need different charge cards/paypal account/yahoo email.
But will Yahoo refused to release the EPP code until domain name renewal comes due next year?. In other words, they will not allow me to transfer my domains to other registrars, right?
Techno 05-10-2009, 09:59 PM In my experience Yahoo will release the EPP code and you can transfer out. Make sure you transfer out at least a month before expiry - preferably more - as Yahoo will charge your credit card about 3 weeks before expiry and renew the domain if it is still there.
lorian 05-11-2009, 01:27 PM Techno, thank a lot... really a lot for your explanation. I successfully registered two .com domains at yahoo :D. And i saw the EPP code there.

eye757 05-18-2009, 11:50 AM Hey! I get one in last month.
It's really only $1,99 for First Year.
audaciously 05-21-2009, 06:55 AM It's a great deal for the first year. I had a domain with them that I had purchased for $1.99-- when the year was about up I transferred with only a little over a week left. Luckily, I didn't have any problems.
There have been so many issues with Yahoo! Domains and their registrar MelbourneIT.com that anybody in their right minds that thinks this is a good deal, should think again. spend $7.50 (or so) at GoDaddy rather than register a $1.99 domain at Yahoo!
what kind of issues? if you are able to register domains and move it to another registrar after 60 days, I don't see why you should worry about those issues.
recovery_v 05-21-2009, 09:39 AM As long as you can move the name, why not? If you are talking about lots of names, 1.99 is a huge cost savings
nameslave 05-21-2009, 11:10 AM Regardless of how this "deal" has been, is and will be abused, it's supposed to limit 1 (ONE) per NEW customer. Good for casual registrants who care to save a few dollars.

OK. Just try and transfer a domain and tell me how you get on. And.. how much is the renewal at Yahoo?

I was charged domain renewal fee even though I moved the domain to a new registrar. It is better to buy domains with virtual credit card from yahoo.

Lorian,
you can register a domain on a registar and you can host it in other place. There are many host services that give you free transfer for a domain when you buy a host plan.
When your domain is near to expire you can tranfer it to another service, and the domain will expire 1 year after these date.
I hope I had help you.
Sorry, I am Brazilian, and my english is very weak.
Regards.
