I don't have a start menu!!!!! Where is it?!?! Nothing even happens when I hit the Start Menu key on my keyboard, and I can't access it from the control panel.

Have you restarted the computer? If so, as NumLock suggested, go into safe mode. If you can get in to the start menu from there, then maybe there is a conflict with one of your drivers. Go to your driver section and see if there is a problem. If you don't see anything, then start up again, but turn on each driver one at a time, until you see which one causes the problem. This may take a while, and unfortunately may not be the solution.

Anyone else run into this before?

Well my friend has windows me, and the same thing happened to him. I guess he sent it for repairs.

Hunt around within this key area.

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced]

See if the start menu is disabled

With xp, your profile may have become damaged. If coming up in safe mode doesn't resolve the problem, try the following:

1. Login as the local Administrator.
2. Create a new local account.
3. Login as the new User.
4. Logoff.
5. Login as the Administrator again.
6. Copy all of the folders over from within your OLD profile. Don't copy the NTUSER files (.DAT and .INI) over to the new profile.

Done!

Logoff and log back on as the new user, and you should have all of your programs and icons back.

Right click on my documents, and make sure someone didn't locate it on an offline share. Locate that share, enable it, or copy it to CD and move it to your local computer.

Then, right click again on your my documents, and browse to that backup, can even be on CD so you can take your documents with you using a burner (CD-RW), and so only you have a copy.
