Can anyone tell me what the benefits of Worldpay are over Paypal Payments Pro?

Worldpay pricing is:

Set-up Fee: GBP 200.00
Monthly Fee: GBP 30.00
4.5% Transaction fee

Paypal Pro pricing is:

Set-up Fee: None
Monthly Fee: GBP 20.00
3.4% Transaction fee

Worldpay is quite a bit more expensive, why choose them? also with Paypal Pro i believe i can integrate it into my own site without customers having to visit paypal by using the API, can you do this with worldpay?

Im basically just a bit baffled as to what the difference between the 2 is and what worldpay are offering that paypal arent.

I like PayPal more. I have it right now and the websites payment pro is great -- not to mention the support. Plus it lets you use virtual terminal (type in credit-card info to charge) and you can buy a card swiper at home for $80. Good deals. Worldpay is offshore.

I hate using paypal as payment method when it comes to business, it always disputes payment on their own, even if the client is not the one who disputed the payment. However, I don't have any experience using worldpay. Maybe there is still other payment methods rather than paypal and worldpay.

PayPal is very secure, and is well known for that. You might see that your customers are more comfortable using PayPal because many people know what it is.

the thing is, I want to use the paypal API so it's all handled in the background and customers won't be leaving my site to pay on paypal, it will appear as though I'm just processing the payment on my own site.

Is there something majorly different between worldpay and paypal website payments pro that I'm missing?

The idea of merchant account, payment gateway, and full integration into my site with no paypal branding is very attractive. I'm struggling to identify the limitations or negative points with paypal payments pro (aside from the fact that its paypal), anyone with any experience or advice on this?

I don't have any problems with PayPal. The only negative stuff is when people get disputes and handling them by PayPal employees and their decisions etc..processing wise; it's a great system. I've been using it since ~2005 and it's great!

Now the API with Website Payment Pro (not the same as Payflow Gateway) is fully white-label, meaning PayPal processes the payment and puts it in your PayPal balance and the customers buy on your site..it uses an API user/pass to communicate the card details securely to PayPal..all on your site. The customers see YOURCOMPANYNAME on their credit card bills. Costs about $70-80 a month on average.

Now PayPal Payflow Gateway is a solution in which PayPal simply acts like a gateway processor, you still need another processor/merchant account. It's a lot more confusing and expensive, but PayPal has 0% interaction with your monies: they go right to your bank account. It's just a service that lets you integrate your merchant accounts and processors with Paypal's security features and subscription features..costing ~$300 setup plus ~$200 a month on average.

I'd reccomend Websites Payments' Pro; you can Google it. Many carts have this integrated, and it should work out great! Contact me if you need any help -- looking good thus far :agree:!

We too prefer PayPal. But I heard a lots of stories about PayPal disputes and client losing all the money. They say not to share Paypal accounts with someone, especially those with another country. So if your partner is a outside your country, be careful in using PayPal.

Second. I also personally also favor PayPal over WorldPay also. IMO, PayPal offers a an overall better service.

I love paypalpro with one exception, I ship goods, not provide a service, so I use paypals built in print shipping label feature for usps. The downside is when I print the label they brand an ebay logo on it, which I do NOT care for at all. The plus side though is because the shipping is integrated, if there is a dispute it is easy to show the item was shipped and delivered. There are other CC processors out there such as authorize.net which I do believe has a lower % taken out per order.

incorrect, oscommerce offer:
http://www.worldpay.com/oscommerce/uk/index.php

Set-up Fee: FREE
Monthly Fee: GBP 15.00
Credit and Debit card fee: 3.35%
Transaction fee: 15p

one disadvantage: Retained balance up to 6 weeks, compare to PayPal - none

at the bottom of that page it says:

"Please Note: The osCommerce Offers are available to new, UK domiciled customers only. To receive this offer, applications must be submitted before the 01/01/2008."

also, do you have to use oscommerce for that? I need to use ubercart.

I avoid hosting sites that use paypal as the only processor. Google checkout, or a credit / debit card processing or i don't use them.

I was ripped off $2600 on paypal a few years back, and haven't used paypal since, and don't ever plan to.

Since I have a relationship with RBS I can't by the TOS of this forum comment too much on this thread.

Please be aware that pricing and remittance timeframes with WorldPay differ by region and territory. (Similar to how Paypal has different pricing by region - Canada vs US vs UK).

more detail, please? I will be very interested to read how to prevent sort of issues.

I don't think anyone will be checking which software do you use.

For UK - yes, but if the offer finished, why the pages and application is still up and running?

Well it depends where you are based. US and UK merchants can get a Paypal Payments Pro account the easiest and some others. Paypal bought out Verisign's payment gateway.

The drawback is antifraud. With Payments Pro there isn't much at all. Its very basic.

Worldpay however once you get your merchant account with them you will find that theit antifraud is a lot better.

Also Paypal use Wells Fargo merchant solutions a lot -- which is okay. But with Worldpay you have the backing of one of the UK's biggest banks RBS -- Royal Bank of Scotland.

Recently (last month) RBS consolidated all its payment brands+ and so you will in the future get more payment methods from Worldpay than Paypal Payments Pro.

(Personally I am skeptical of all this consolidation in the industry. If they get good managers running it all then it can really hum. But one advantage of the seperate brands was different management teams with different focusses. I hope that is not lost. )

+Natwest Streamline, Streamline International, WorldPay, Payment Trust, Bibit, RiskGuardian and RBS Lynk were put together into the single RBS Worldpay.

it is very interesting that you post here.

Why is it that you don't mention Worldpay on your site if you are a RBS WorldPay Accredited Partner?

And continue to spam the wikipedia article on WorldPpay, for example:
http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=WorldPay&oldid=250092463 and see the history of the article here http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=WorldPay&action=history and keep on putting it back despite the spam cleaners taking it off every time?

I like Paypal more, as long as you ship to a verified address, you won't into any major issue and you are covered for any disputes

We are WorldPay's longest standing partner company in North America. I've been working with the folks at WorldPay for over 8 years. I do keep updating the wikipedia listing because it is accurate and relevant information. I'm hoping at some point they will keep it and make it sticky.

I noticed your post and saw all the information you provided about the RBS consolidation. You are very well informed. Are you an RBS partner as well? I don't understand why you would find it unlikely we are a WorldPay partner? You could have just called my contact information (my contact details are in my signature) if you have questions.

Also, you can try to use AlertPay, or Liberty Reverse. My friend, Andy (http://aufklarung.org/), has written an article about some good PayPal alternatives at here (http://aufklarung.org/monetize/superior-alternatives-to-paypal.mspx).
