View Full Version : Question on reporting a post

I started to report a post I felt was violating a forum rule regarding promoting your company, but stopped when I saw it was a Community Guide.

My question is, what level of helper answers and investigates in the Help Desk? Community Liaisons? Community Guides? Community Leaders?

I didn't want to submit it without knowing, for fear that report would end up in the violator's hands.

Violations need to be reported, even if they are staff (though I'd hope not!). Guides do not work the helpdesk where reports go, with the exception of a few that help with license verifications.

Liaisons, Leaders, and SoftWareRevue are all responsible for handling moderation. Please report the post anyway. A community title has no bearing on how moderation is enforced here. :) Thanks!

Edit: That bear is a fast one. Run!!!!

I've had a post or two reported.

And, yes, those members are still here. :wht:

Is there any warning from the responsible moderators that the violators will receive? just for them to know that they violated something?
Just want to know.

Yes, anyone who receives an Alert gets a copy of the notice via email automatically.

Ok,
But, if someone received a notice from their email, is that mean that they are already banned or they can still continue to participate in this forum?

Thank you. :)

Users are banned only when their infraction points are above a certain level.

By the way, it is very disappointing to see a Community Guide engaging in self-promotion in WHT as well. Do report the user by all means as they should be taught a lesson by not knowing WHT's rules clearly. :wht:

Banning is a last resort, only done if the offense is really serious or it keeps happening. Rarely is it permanent.

We get several reports a day. Some we agree with. Some we don't.

Just because someone says someone else was self-promoting, doesn't mean that's what was happening.

So please hold your disdain for the final curtain.

Most likely there's been a misunderstanding of either the circumstance or the applied rules, which is easy enough to understand. ;)
