Dear Members,

I am thinking of using Google Checkout for my business. I have not managed to find any information regarding this service (it is either old or not detailed) on this forum and would like to ask you to share your experience. I have used PayPal before but it all ended up in restricted account even though i had no charge backs, not even refunds.

Since my company is based in UK i was planning to get myself a WorldPay account but then a good friend of mine has suggested me to use Google Checkout since they had no activation fees, other their fees are low while compared to other services and they do not hold your funds for 3 weeks like WorldPay does. Sounds too good to be true. What would you suggest me to use: Google or WorldPay?

By the way i provide the translation services (intangible goods).

I will really appreciate any help!

Thank you in advance,
Arthur.

I use Google Checkout and it works fine.

Money goes into your bank in a matter or a couple of days.

Hi Arthur,

My feedback on Google checkout was that it is quite good if your users know what they are doing - if your users are not frequent internet users then it can be quite tricky to use as they would need to setup an account etc v. using something like PayPal Website Payments Pro which if integrated well is much easier to use and also offers much more flexibility. On the plus side - Google checkout do pay you quickly and email your customers automatically asking for feedback on the transaction which is quite good.

All the best,

Jacob

As Jacob mentioned Paypal payments pro may be a good idea if you are looking to start taking credit card payments. I think the fee starts at £20/month for up to 1000 transactions and then you just have the standard paypal fees.

I would to thank everybody who has shared their experience with Google Checkout and gave their suggestions. Still from my previous experience i do not want to work with PayPal anymore in order to avoid all the hassle that has followed me from the very beginning.

Does Google Checkout verify the account somehow? And as far as I understood I can send an invoice to a person and it will allow him/her to pay on a Google website without any need to create an account?

I use Google Checkout and it's great - No they don't HAVE to create an account, but it's like Paypal. They will put up a fight before just taking the details.

I never had a problem with them, the integration is simple and there are a variety of pricing structures, more expensive now then last month but for the security and brand that comes with Google, even over Paypal it's worth the money in my opinion.
