Thumbs up for Edgehost, their services and support is simply top notch. Keep up the good work guys.

I'd recommend them to any new webmaster looking for an excellent and reliable host.

Are you a client of theirs and if so, how long have you been with them? Experienced webmasters should look elsewhere?

I've been with them for about a month now. When I said that I'd recommend this host to new webmasters, what I meant was that their support is really great and if you're new at web hosting and the like, they can help much. This doesn't mean that experienced webmasters should look elsewhere, Edgehost is good for anyone looking for a good and reliable host.

For me... Thumb Down

I asked for an ASP support, they said they have.

I opened a reseller account, and after 24 hours I discovered they don't...

I contacted them, they said that they have Linux ASP, which is limited... but they will have NT hosting within 10 DAYS as they said, but till now they didn't.

so, I closed my account after paying one month fees for nothing.

From less than a week, THEY BILLED ME AGAIN FOR ANOTHER MONTH , although I submitted a support ticket ending the service with them....

I am no waiting for their reply... I hope I don't wait for the third month.

My Second Billing was with Order Number : 34116-R482453

I hope they return my money back.

Considering how much downtime Edge have had over the past month, and current issues they have, I'd say that's either a very shallow, or very naive, recommendation.

Hey,

I must admit that I am confused....

I want to thank DTQ for the kind comments and for sticking with us the past month.

Visioner, we only advertise having Apache::ASP. So we did have ASP, just not the kind that you wanted. I don' see how you were with us for 1 week, yet we billed you twice... Why didn't you use the 14-Day money back option we have? Please contact me about your refund (since I have no clue who you are, and we never received any ticket asking for a refund).

I, Brian, we did have many problems and there are still a few kinks to work out of the system. However to say that it is a very shallow, or very naive recommendation is quite shallow itself.

Thanks,
Alec

Before the recent troubles, yours was a very respected company. Even when there were complaints at WHT, I took the time to speak up for Edgehost, on the basis of their prior reputation.

But look at the starter post - someone who joined a month ago would likely have experienced multiple periods of extensive downtime, not to mention a few other quirks with the connection along the way - yet here they are recommending people join with Edgehost for their services??

Every host has their ups and downs period, so it's really unfair to attack Edgehost now because of their downtimes due to upgrading. IMO, their people are very knowledgable and friendly, some of the best supports I've ever seen so I think it's only fair for them to have a little recognition for their good work.

I'm not naive, I just think that we should give our hosts a chance, and to me, Edgehost is the host that I'm going to be with. Just because I support them and you've had bad times with them, doesn't mean you should call me naive or inexperienced.

Just my 0.02.

Brian,

Why would our reputation be called into question? Even after all of the problems we had and fixed I still think that we are a respected company. We haven't told any clients to post on WHT, its up to them to do what they want. Infact, many clients tell us they are going to recommend us, just like DTQ did.

As for DTQ post's... He is letting you know what his experience has been like while he has been with us. He knows what has happened to his site, he knows what we did to fix it, and he knows what is going on and what did go on. Now, if he knew all of that do you think he would come here and lie to everybody?

I've been with edgehost for about three or four months now I believe. The uptime has always been very high. Since I am on another server than what the others who came here complaining about, my site received nearly no downtime at all.

Also, whenever I send a ticket, the ticket response is almost always within the hour. I have to say, I have nothing but compliments for edgehost so far. It's been great with them.

I did not use the 14 day money back option because your support told me that the NT Server will be ready by max. 10 days, and I was not in a harry.
your support said at 2 October 2002:
"Our NT packages will be launching hopefully next week."
Alec

After two weeks I submitted a ticket ending the hosting service, and I though that this is enough.

I will contact you, but I wrote my bill # so you can know who am I?

phpcoder and DTQ -

I'm not at all knocking Edgehost's good reputation.

I personally hope [and think] that Edgehost will suffer minimally after October's upset. I see the company being run by a mature-minded person with good customer care skills. I expect the clients are loyal, and that the client base will continue to expand.

I also hope that Alec has doubly ensured that there is every available backup in the event of another major technical problem [this would be a definite plus area - lack of complacency].

But look at the recommendation plainly:

- 1 month of experience with host
- 1 month of serious downtime.

Now, where's the logical recommendation in that? Does that really make sense?

[and before I end up becoming the WHT grump, let's treat that as a rhetorical question, yes? :)]

Visioner, I got your email and you will be refunded since I know who you are and your situation.

I,Brian - Thank you for showing faith in the company. However its not like we were down the whole month. We had the 1 network outage for 14 hours and 1 or 2 other minor things.

Good Day,
Alec

Hang on a mo - just reading back, there's always the possibility that I've completely the wrong impression about how serious the issues with Edgehost were in October. In fact, thinking about it, I probably have - minimal downtime for upgrade for all servers, excepting for the one server that required a new router.

<slaps head>groan</slaps head>

In which case, my sincere apologies for the error and cynicism.

1 network outage for 14 hours

Yep - that figures. Those couple of people in October complaining of downtime obviously led myself to wrongly assume the extent of the problem.

I will definitely zzzzzzip it now.

Looks like EdgeHost are coming out of this one all smiles and that makes me happy for some reason. :)

I signed up last night after reading posts about edgehost. I needed a second host as I'm experimenting with some php scripts.
Sign up process was easy but what did suck is that they use PAYPAL for merchant account. I think this is bad for any REAL business. If you are for real get a normal merchant account like authorize.net
I had a problem making a payment with payhell since I signed up with one email and my payhell account uses my company's email. So it took almost a day to get the details for my account.
Now it's wait and see till my domain name transfers to their nameservers.
I'll keep posting:)

If you have email EdgeHost they would have give you another payment rather than PayPal,

This was I did, I think it was worldpay.com, and it doesn't require your login to pay them.
