★Beat The Planet Promotion Continues!★
In response to thePlanet's recent promotion that they will cut your pricing to move from us to them -we are matching their deal - we will cut the price on servers you move from them to us - just present their bill and we guarantee you a 20% savings over what they are charging you. This makes their deal invalid to say its the most aggressive offer since we guarantee you all the same terms as them including free migration assistance and one month free and we guarantee that your bill will be at least 20% cheaper by moving. Now we have the most agressive offer on the planet. As they mentioned there are few hosts in a position to do this - we are one of them - and with our superior financial results I can run toe to toe with any smackdown they want to bring - so bring it.
You owe it to yourself in these tough economic times to pull out your bill on your older servers. You will find its going to save you a lot of money to cut your bill and even maybe look at moving to newer and better hardware for the same price or even lower! You need to be asking for cheaper bills these days with the economy so what are you waiting for - contact us at sales@gnax.net

You're correct. It's supposed to come standard with 8GB RAM. We're fixing it right now.
priceline 05-05-2009, 03:11 PM I can't find Q9550 for 86$ on this post or on your site except in the thread title. Am I missing something?

If you chose the maximum buydown option, and use the coupon code, your monthly price will be $86.

they only come with 8 - just order it - I assure you it will have 8 in for that price. It should be fixed by now but in case its not for some wierd reason - you have my word it has 8

I was told it's a typo error on the website and the webmaster should fix it. And I had to pay extra to get the 4GB extra RAM. Does everyone at NetDepot actually know the 8GB that's advertised is supposed to be included, or is it just the marketing department?

There's only a handful of people from netdepot you could've talked to and I doubt they told you that you have to pay to get the 8 gigs. If sailor says you get the 8 gigs then you get 8 gigs.
SoftDux 05-08-2009, 08:14 PM Mike, I'm paying $21 extra to get 8GB RAM. It's on my invoice, so I'm not sure but either there's a problem with their order process, or 8GB isn't included in the "Intel C2Q Q9550 Single Processor Quad Core (bd2)" deal.
priceline 05-08-2009, 09:50 PM My understanding is that you just place an order with 4GB, they will deploy the server with 8GB.
I am not sure, why it is so hard to change it to 8GB in the order form :(
123finder.com 05-09-2009, 11:27 AM Hello,
Must the buydown be selected right at the beginning or can I choose to buy it down after trying out the server for the first month or so (with the no-setup monthly rate of $149)?
Thanks

that decision was made likely just after you bought this server. email me your account details and I will make sure the charge is removed from your invoice.
copy billing@gnax.net on it too. thanks for your order.

you can buydown a server any time you like to.
SoftDux 05-09-2009, 12:27 PM Who can I speak to about 4GB that I'm paying extra for? I'd also like to take advantage of the offer with 8GB included RAM

probably one of our new sales persons - I will blast out an email on this again and make sure they know.

Hi Sailor,
I actually spoke to Maggie on live chat before ordering the server in Atlanta, and she told me that the server only has 4GB RAM, and I need to pay for the extra 8GB RAM.
My account name is SoftDux.

sk069 05-09-2009, 09:34 PM @ sailor - heads up i was going to sign up for your super sick 9550 deal, but when i messaged someone from your sales chat button in regards to the confusion they had no clue as to what i was talking about and then offered me 30% off on a package more than double of what i requested, heh. for the sake of disclosure i wanted to see if she would match the pricing webprox was providing and told her i loved the "**** theplanet" attitude and competitive stance, but she didn't appear to understand what was going on in regards to WHT.
it was within 4-8 hours ago and was a female. just wanted to give you a heads up you seem pretty friendly :). i ended up signing up with webprox and their deal, but wanted to bring it to your attention so you dont lose prospective customers.
thanks for providing such killer deals!
SoftDux 05-10-2009, 04:47 AM Hi Sailor,
I'm unable to PM you, due to the fact that I spammed someone more than a year ago and the WHT admins refuse to lift the ban. So, don't worry about it.

match pricing deals require management approval -so she would not have been able to do anything if you could not wait a bit. If you needed the server immediately on a sunday afternoon then you did the best thing to sign up with them for now.
Any time you want to meet a price you can always pm me and I will look at it.
on a sunday morning - it might take a bit for me to get to it but I do my best.
thanks for thinking of us and if you would rather have that server with us - you can pm or email me and I will tell you if we can do it and you can cancel your other order.
just let me know
thanks

I'm actually beginning to think doing business with Netdepot was a big mistake. It took me close to 4 days just to get the server, and then I got a server with totally incorrect partitioning layout and I can't use it. I have opened a support ticket on 08 May 2009 01:56 AM on this asking for the server to be reformatted and partitioned properly. This matter is STILL not attended to, and it's now 11 May 2009 07:52 AM with no response from the technician.
How do you partition a 500GB HDD to be only 10GB big????
Does your company actually provide 24/7 support?
And why are your live support staff so rude? When asked about this, I was told to wait 24 - 72 hours! For a support ticket???
Sadly though, I doubt that if I cancel now, I'll get my $300 setup fee back. So, what do I do?
P.S. My username here is the same I used on the sign up.
SoftDux 05-11-2009, 04:47 AM Hi Sailor,
I know this isn't your official support channel, but sine I don't get replies on the support desk, or the Live Chat, I'll take my chances here.
Before I continue, can you please tell me your real name? I'm getting tired of talking to people at NetDepot who won't tell me who they are.
I have ordered a server, nearly a week ago already (my account name is SoftDux). I was under the impression that your servers (as advertised) came with 8GBM RAM,yet when I ordered it, I had to purchase the 4GB extra RAM @ $21 pm. Maggie told me there is a typo on the website, and the order form is correct. I should have backed-out by this time, but I read a lot of good reviews of GNAX & NetDepot and since I want to expand my USA server options, I though Atlanta would be a good place to go.
The server was online 4 days later, with incorrect partitioning. Today is Monday the 11th, and partitioning is still incorrect. I have logged 2 tickets, one on the 7th & one on the 8the to have this sorted out. It's still not sorted out.
Your live chat staff are very unprofessional and everyone tells me to wait 24-72 hours for a reply from the support department. This, in itself is a real shocker and if I knew you didn't offer 24/7 support, I wouldn't even have bothered signing up, let alone pay the $300 setup fee.
Right now, $418 & 1 week later I still don't have a server and I have 3 clients waiting for their VPS's to be setup. I was hoping to cancel my server, and get a refund, but was told by that I won't get a refund on the setup fee.
And, just for clarity's sake, can you please tell me the following:
1. Why don't you have a support department?
2. Why don't you respond to support tickets over weekends (Sandra's words: "Sandra: Please be informed that we don't respond to tickets on weekend "
3. Are your staff trained not to give out any contact info for management, and the President / CEO, or are they just not informed who those people are?
4. If you sell dedicated servers, why don't you offer support on these?

Hi Jeff,
I'm sorry for not emailing or PM'ing you. I was out all day, fixing corrupt and lightning struck servers and literally only had internet access, and not email access. My account couldn't, until now, send PM's, so I couldn't PM you, but I'll PM you right now.
poetren 05-11-2009, 02:05 PM GNAX definitely has 24/7 support. I've used their support system at various times and on the weekend to fix the mistakes I've made on the server I run, and always gotten a quick response. It doesn't seem to matter if it's the middle of the night, the weekend, or during business hours, it's always been just as quick of a response. I've learned a lot over the last 11 months and have less use for support but I trust it'll be there when I need it. I'm also putting plans together for ordering a second server and hoping to get in on this deal.
sk069 05-12-2009, 06:12 PM match pricing deals require management approval - so she would not have been able to do anything if you could not wait a bit. If you needed the server immediately on a sunday afternoon then you did the best thing to sign up with them for now.
i didnt "need a server immediately on a sunday afternoon", but since it was mentioned here is what went down - what threw me off was clicking a "chat live with an expert" button and them not having a clue as to what was going on with WHT... in fact, it appeared she had never heard of WHT. i would expect an expert to know what is going on and keep up with their boss' advertising campaign by logging onto wht once in a while. i noticed your comment towards another poster in regards to his struggle with using the right communications channel, but it appears the same line of communication needs to be worked on @ your end with your new staff. sales staff is your infantry... if they don't know what is happening @ your end it makes people who are excited to jump on your bandwagon less enthusiastic and makes them look less competent and reputable.
when i mentioned the deal you were providing within these forums her counter was offering 30% off on a Dual Harpertown 5410 without regards to my initial request. i couldnt see the relevance of a single quad @ $86/mo ($311buydown) vs. a dual quad @ 349/mo no buydown. we are all human and receiving a human response during a sale is the best response we can ever receive. had she of said that she needed management approval and she was not in a position of authority to make it happen i would have respected that. instead she had me wait for 5 minutes before responding with her 30% off on a dual harpertown @ $349/mo... when i asked her why her suggestion was a dual harpertown 5410 over a Q9550 i received silence on the other end and then the same canned "i suggest a dual harpertown and i can give you 30% off." i dont know about you, but i've had my fair share of ELIZA bot convos back in the day and wasnt in the mood. So, it wasnt that I needed the server immediately... I needed an expert or someone in the know that could properly make the sale. Don't have your button lit up with "chat with an expert" if that isnt what is going to greet us. i understand everyone is "new" @ their job at one point or another, but dismissing their lack of knowledge due to their tenure is condescending and is also indicative that "chat with an expert" is misleading when one clicks on the button on your homepage.
im all down for the upsell... but take me out to dinner before you try and stick your hand down my pants ;)
besides when i break it down... i wouldnt see any real savings from the $86 until 14 months from the date of buydown/setup fee... im paying them $109/mo which is $23 more a month, but with a 311 buydown it would take 13-14 months ($311 / $23 = 14months) to recoup my $311 on the 15th month is when the $86 pricing would truly take effect due to the buydown - in total i would have saved $23 on the 15th month over what I currently have with webprox. by then i hope to move onto a bigger server. it would only make sense to go this route if i planned on keeping this specific server for more than 15 months with the buydown. on the 16th month is when i would reap the rewards of giving you $311 today, but by then these 9550's will probably be treated like dual cores are today...
thanks for thinking of us and if you would rather have that server with us - you can pm or email me and I will tell you if we can do it and you can cancel your other order.
no problem. it appears you guys are super busy so i'll have to pass on cancelling my order that was properly provisioned within 6 hours with webprox. they delivered my server in < 4 hours after payment and have responded to my requests in under 20-60 minutes with zero fuss. besides, im sure you wouldnt want me to do that to you and waste your resources before giving you a fair chance.
madrilian 05-13-2009, 07:31 AM they only come with 8 - just order it - I assure you it will have 8 in for that price. It should be fixed by now but in case its not for some wierd reason - you have my word it has 8
OK ... I ordered and I only got 4GB. Not only I only got 4GB, but the funniest thing is that the 4GB extra appear in the deployment email as "removed from base configuration".
SoftDux 05-13-2009, 08:09 AM I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one experiencing problems with the sales people on live chat.
Jeff, can you please look at "revamping" your live chat support? I don't think the sales staff are up to speed with everything @ NetDepot
madrilian 05-13-2009, 08:28 PM I opened a ticket and they upgraded my 9550 server to 8GB within hours, no questions asked.
Also, I have to say that I ordered two servers, the Dual 5410 was deployed the same day, and the other (9550), after they asked me a question about the network it would be placed at, it was deployed also within hours after I replied their questions.
So, well, it is not all bad there.
I would also like to say I have been with netdepot for a couple of years now, and I have had no problem at all. Reliable network, and needed reboots always done within reasonable time.
And the bad ....
.... to all of you reading this, I advise you not to bother using the "live chat" at netdepot.
The operators do not have the slightest clue what they are talking about. As soon as you asked them something about the servers, all they do is saying "please email sales". That's as far as they can go. What's the point of having a live chat just to say "please email sales" ???? They don't tell you anything more than what is already displayed in the website and in the FAQ.
I asked them if the SAS disk were 15K, and they dind't know what I was talking about.
I could give many more examples ...
I went into the live chat 3 or 4 times before ordering, and in my opinion, it was completely useless. They were not able to answer any of my questions, and if they answer to something, later it turned to be wrong.
Despite most other providers I have chatted with, the operators at netdepot, not only are complety ignorant about their produts and services, but do not show the slightest interest in selling you a server. They just repeat "please email sales" ...very dissapointing... really.
And by the way ... I find Maggie quite rude ... not only she doesn't have a clue, but it always seems she can't wait to get rid of you ...
Despite the monkeys they've hired for the live chat, I have to say netdepot is a vey decent provider, and their offers are great deals, specially if you get the "buydown" option, if you spread the price over a one or two years, you really can get the best value for money.
SoftDux 05-16-2009, 07:02 PM I have to say, I'm getting really really annoyed with your staff, Jeff. When I asked Irwin if I could speak to you, he closed the session on me, without a reply. And please don't tell me it's a network error, since it happened 3 times in a row.
I would like to find out if I can get a refund on my server, but every time I ask the question, the operator apologizes for the inconvenience and then closes the chat session. Why is this?
madrilian 05-18-2009, 08:20 AM I told you ... don't bother with the live chat .. it is useless. The operators don't have a clue about anything, and you will only waste your time.

You need to use the ticketing system please - not online chat - its only meant to answer simple sales questions.
I will find out if someone is closing a window and for what reason - they may be new and not understand that they can give out contact information. You can always pm on here though and my contact information is all over this forum with a simple search so I am not sure why you are not able to find it.

Simple sales questions?? They are not able to answer anything that it is not so obvious no one would need to ask about it.
For the rest ... they would just tell you "please email sales".
Not only that .. it seems they are always in a hurry to get rid of you and close the window.
IT'S A JOKE.
