Hey there, I'm planning to open a hosting company and I need your thoughts
I would install OpenVZ/HyperVM on the server and I would set a couple of VPS there.
There will be max 4-5 clients per VPS. The server will be highly secured with basic DDoS Protection. Almost every DDoS attack lower than 100mb/s will be blocked...

Plan:
5 GB Disk Space
100 GB
1 dedicated IP address
Private nameservers(like ns1.yoursite.com, ns2.yoursite.com and nameservers will have your IP address)
LXAdmin Control Panel(you can add 10 domains)
PHP 5.2.9(newest version) with suhosin patch
Features like XCache, IonCube, Zend are included
Servers with LiteSpeed and lighttpd(your choice)
Server location: Only UK atm but I will be adding servers in The Netherlands and USA
Warez linking and adult allowed

If I get a complaints from the Datacenter(about yout content) I will forward it to you and let you handle it
The price would be about 10-15$ per month. Payment via moneybookers only.

I was planning it for a long time and I was testing it. I think I got pretty good configuration, to get the best speed, stability, security and basic DDoS Protection on the servers...

It's not cheap shared hosting, only 4-5 clients per VPS, so always semi-dedicated

Any thoughts?

Thanks
Best Regards

You're sort of asking for trouble there :)

Warez linking allowed......

Are you prepared to handle a civil suit?

What if the client that you get a complain about doesn't take care of it? After a small amount of time hosts loose their immunity from civil suit.

The rest sounds pretty decent though :D

Warez linking would be illegal in the UK.

This sounds a pretty good plan, although I don't fully see why you want to split this into a VPS?

Hey, I would split it into a VPSs because I will get a better performance and DDoS protection then.

If you allow warez, and your in the uk, I can virtually guarantee you your datacenter will, in the end, shut your whole server down, so all your clients will end up with no site. Check your datacenters tos, I would be extremely surprised if they do not forbid warez, or other illegal activety.

The plan itself is not a bad one though.

Hey, I'm not sure is warez linking allowed in UK but I know it's allowed in The Netherlands(The Datacenter is Ecatel) for sure. As I said I will be adding new servers in The Netherlands and USA and I will be able to move the site with warez linking to the Ecatel servers.

Are you from the UK? You are still subject to the laws of the land you live in.

Disregarding the warez issue...

This plan seems really expensive, as you can probably get a lot more by buying a reseller plan from a company (for a slightly higher price), and then be able to place 30+ users per server. To me, at least, if all you're doing is selling web hosting with your vps, a reseller plan would be the best thing for you.

Well as OP stated, it's expensive because it would be considered "semi-dedicated" hosting. Due to the fact that he's splitting his server into multiple VPS which isn't a bad idea and then selling only 4-5 accounts on each of these VPS.

Clients will ultimately have much better performance and reliable disk space/bandwidth to use.

Hey, I'm not sure is warez linking allowed in UK but I know it's allowed in The Netherlands

No it is not, Linking to warez is illegal in the Netherlands. Downloading music and movies in the Netherlands is legal (but uploading and sharing them is not, a bit weird law imho), but warez (cracked software) hosting or linking is not legal.

I think we all agree Warez is asking for trouble...good luck with that
