What is the advantage of having your own IP address? I don't know whether to pay extra for the ip or just not get it.
Can you do some things that you wouldn't be able to do with no ip address?
thanks

You can only get a dedicated ip for... SSL, name servers, and a dedicated ftp server I think :stickout:

you might as well go with the shared IP
unless you need any of the above theres no point in wasting the IP or your money

There are two main reasons you would want a dedicated IP since they are IP dependent and that is Anonymous FTP and SSL.

IP addresses can also be used temporarily while propagating your domain. Also, IP addresses can be used for web sites that do not have domain names and subdomains won't work.
