View Full Version : -:: Clean template: airy, blue sky theme.....make your customers feel relaxed!::-
IrishFlash 11-01-2002, 12:57 PM Hi,
I have just finished this new template. It has an airy, open space, sky sort of feel to it. I think it turned out well :)
URL: http://www.martincrumlish.com/templates/v1a.jpg
Anyway, I am looking to sell this ASAP for $150 including all the fonts, HTML and source files. This template will not be resold and once you buy it you can do whatever you like with it.
Serious offers only please.
Thanks,
Martin
PS: Also, a pre-emptive request here: Please dont post here saying "wow, $150 is too expensive" etc. If thats what you think then thats ok, no need to ruin my post and drive the price down.
Chachi 11-01-2002, 01:16 PM I actually like it, and I don't like many of the templates I see here. I'm sure your PM/Email Inbox will be buzzing in the next few hours. The shading effects are extremely good :cartman:
IrishFlash 11-01-2002, 01:20 PM Thanks Fazel3, I hope you are right!
Yes, definitely better than most.
porpoise 11-01-2002, 05:36 PM Nice template. I'd like to purchase it. What's the best way to pay you?

dalecom 11-04-2002, 09:55 AM Yeah I just noticed that myself : It was my design that you stole the image from http://www.daledesign.co.uk/templates/templates.htm
You can tell because it is exactly the same size and has the 'microsoft' removed from it.
If you were gonna steal my idea, wouldnt it have been just easy to get your own image or is that just too much hard work for you?
I wonder what else is stolen in your portfolio ?
Oli
RH Robert 11-04-2002, 11:30 AM This is the source of that image... all that was done is to remove the microsoft logo... so who does it really belong to?
http://www.zdnet.com.au/reviews/computers/peripherals/story/0,2000023513,20262048,00.htm
I found it a few minutes ago on google image search... could it be that's where he found it? It's probably where you found it also... I am sure you aren't the only one to remove a logo from that image.....
So dalecom, before you go pointing fingers, make sure it really is your image he lifted, and that you didn't lift it yourself from someone else.....even the shading is the same.
All this finger pointing is a load of crap.
IrishFlash 11-04-2002, 11:55 AM I found the image on google image search and then found it on this site http://www.asiaweek.com/asiaweek/technology/techsavvy/winter2001/s.gadgets.html ....get off your high horse.
As is shown by DrChaos' post, the image is just of a mouse and can be found on loads of sites.
Where did you get the image before you go shouting about copying your work?
And as for 'stealing' your idea, I dont think the idea of having the image of a mouse used where the user clicks something is your idea.
And also, there is nothing stolen in my portfolio.
I think the fact that you posted ranting off about a mouse image which you just lifted yourself is ridiculous.
dalecom 11-04-2002, 12:30 PM I know its mine because I compared the two, it is exactly the same size and has exactly the same drop shadow. The likelyhood of you doing EXACTLY the same is very unlikely.
I dont want to get in to a debate about this; you know its from my template and so do I.
Chachi 11-04-2002, 12:40 PM Chastise me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the original photo of the mouse already have a drop shadow?
Furthermore, both of you have just admitted to stealing images from ZDNetAustralia.
Should you not compensate your clients, because they now have to replace those images, by buying some stock photography which will cost them maybe $70-80
IrishFlash 11-04-2002, 12:45 PM There is no debate to be had. I got the image from http://www.asiaweek.com/asiaweek/technology/techsavvy/winter2001/s.gadgets.html
I removed the microsoft and kept the same drop shadow that was already on it.
Why would I 'steal' something from a design on WHT and then post one of my designs using that image?
This is just a coincidence. I downloaded the image from the URL above, removed the microsoft and made it slightly smaller.
You obviously got the image from some site and I got it from the URL above. Coincidence.
I am a good enough designer to not have to resort to copying peoples designs and I have been a victim of this in the past and I know how frustrating this is. I can see why you may have got the impression that i took it from your site as it is the same image but I can assure you i did not, nor would I.
Also, there would not be a problem with using this image as it is a derivative work and has been changed. In my case, removed the logo and changed the brightness and contrast levels of the image slightly.
dalecom 11-04-2002, 12:52 PM Furthermore, both of you have just admitted to stealing images from ZDNetAustralia
I never said I got my image from there; I didnt.
This is just a coincidence. I downloaded the image from the URL above, removed the microsoft and made it slightly smaller.
- I dont think so; Ive compared the two images and they are EXACTLY the same size- you can try it by having them on separate layers and making one 50% see thru, they line up exactly. It would be a huge coincedence if we both resized them to the same size and yours happens to appear for sale a week after mine.
Oli.
RH Robert 11-04-2002, 12:55 PM is this yours? http://standoutsites.com/mousey.jpg I didn't download yours, this is from somewhere totally unrelated to either of you. Looks the same size to me...and has the same dropshadow. But then again, so does the one I originally posted about. You didn't create it either, so stop your whining about someone stealing it from you...you did the same thing. Please don't claim the picture as your own if all you did is remove the ms logo. It's easy for anyone to do. I am jumping on this because it's a perfect example of so many complaints of theft of design. That image is in so many places, and it is originally a MICROSOFT promo photo in a brochure, that no one can bitch about theft except for MS. Sites can only have so many colors, layouts, and styles. People are inspired by and design accordingly. I am not talking blatant ripoffs here...I am talking similarites that people cry "rip" on.
In your case dalecom, you don't have a right to cry, because you didn't create that image, you took it from somewhere else and made a simple modification that anyone could make.
I see a lot of stuff incorporated into designs that I have seen elsewhere... doesn't necessarily mean they were ripped.
That's all I am gonna say on the subject.
IrishFlash 11-04-2002, 12:58 PM Listen, I have already explained where I got the image and what i did with it. You can believe me or not, I really dont care. I have spent enough time trying to explain myself when it wasnt necessary in light of the link I posted to the image source.
It would be different if it was an image you made of the mouse or something but it is just derived from an image of a MS mouse.
If you are so damn picky about the use of this image then where did you get it from may I ask? I think the word hypocrisy is appropriate here.
I have explained how i got the image and what changes I made to it so as far as I am concerned this topic is closed.
DrChaos, I couldn't have put it better myself, thank you
Chicken 11-04-2002, 07:58 PM Ok, the mouse copy controversy needs to end as of this post. If this image actually belonged to either of you, I'd spend time worring about who copied who. Since it doesn't, let it be. The person who buys the template will have to decide if that is an issue.
