You might want to consider a VPS. What is your budget?

There are a number of Windows hosts to choose from - Burst, FutureHosting, Sharktech etc.

For Remote desktop access, you should be really looking at Windows VPS or Dedicated server solution.

My budget is $20/month or $240 yearly

Most of this budget is going to be swallowed up by licensing costs, before the host can even think about providing the service and making a profit. Unfortunately I think you might need to re-evaluate either your requirements or your budget.

A more realistic budget from a reliable provider is starting at $60/month. Most of the services I would personally consider are in the $99/month range.

Maybe you could suggest a Windows dedicated server that fits within his budget of $20 per month?

If connecting remotely to the server is absolute must, then you should seek out a dedicated server solution. I do not know any reputable hosting company that would allow customers to remotely connect to a shared server.

Also, if you expect to use a lot of RAM, then a dedicated server will be more efficient for you because you'll the only web site on the server utilizing the server resources.

You mentioned that your budget is $20/mo. Because you require remote desktop access and a decent amount of RAM, you should consider increasing your budget so you can obtain a quality dedicated server solution.

Just get a VPS (which has remote desktop!) You don't need a dedicated server despite what has been quoted here. $20 per month might get you a cheap windows VPS.

For $20 you are going to find a very, very basic Windows VPS (if any). If you need decent RAM for video conversion, then you are definitely going to have to up your budget - for $20 you *may* get 256mb RAM at most.

Honestly, dedicated server is impossible in $20/month and even if you find a cheap VPS solution, there are possibilities that they crash during processes. Because you might not get appropriate, RAM with in your current budget.

I strongly suggest extending your budget to setup quality business.

Consider a windows vps either in Canada or the USA, some Asian countries block certain ip ranges.

if you only have to do video conversion every once in a while you could fire up an Amazon ec2 instance, save your work and shut it down.

Digging up an old thread and the host you mention doesn't even offer Windows VPS? They are Debian or CentOS.

You mentioned the main purpose you wanted this for was web browsing through remote desktop. Why do you not want to browse the internet from the computer you would be accessing the remote server from? Depending on your answer, and your ability/willingness to learn new tech, you might be able to accomplish your goals by getting a linux vps with a web proxy. This could fit into your budget, or would at least be a lot more realistic.
