Hello,
I am looking for a cart that offers recurring billing (subscription) capabilities. I am wanting to sell a product that usually runs out after a month. So I want to give the option to my customers to have it automatically shipped to them every month.
What are some good e-commerce cart applications that support this? I already have an Authorize.net account, but I want the cart to do the actual charging monthly and creating invoices. (I have looked into the Authorize.net recurring billing).
I also maybe want a popup when my customer is checking out, offering this recurring billing, then maybe offering a discount if they sign up, etc.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You
ReadyRick

Thank you. But do those carts have this option? And I am not a great programmer, isn't that required with a open source cart?
Thank You

Greetings from Malaysia killrwhale.
Have you try ViArt? I look over their website, this ViArt Shop support both individual purchase and recurring billing.
I am trying to install free version now to look what is ViArt can do.

The shopping cart doesn't provide the recurring billing capability.
The gateway does. You are confusing providers.
You need a GATEWAY with recurring billing.
While you're at it, do not assume your merchant account provider is OK with recurring billing. check with them first.
Summary: We are talking about three separate provider entities here:
(1) merchant account (2) gateway (3) shopping cart. Also find out which gateways are compatible with your merchant account provider (and vice-versa).

This isn't entirely true because the cart would need to originally tell the gateway that this will be a recurring transactions and he is asking for some functionality during the add to cart and checkout to tell them about the recurring payment. The cart would also potentially need to make note of when the payments are taken on a recurring basis or you need someway to manage this to make sure you stop someones account if they don't pay etc.
I don't know of any carts that do exactly what you are looking for. Volusion says they support recurring billing but only in a very basic sense and 3dcart has an add-on you can purchase to do recurring billing but I do not know the details on it.
