N|Kitmitto 04-17-2009, 03:23 PM cPanel for VPS, as far as I know is a little smaller and uses less resources. But this could have changed with the newest version. Other than that, I don't believe anything. cPanelDavidG 04-17-2009, 05:05 PM What is the difference between CPanel for dedicated servers and the one for VPS Servers? They offer the same functionality. The only difference is cPanel/WHM VPS Optimized is optimized to better serve content within the constraints of a VPS environment (lack of RAM). itsa 04-20-2009, 10:16 PM - Different logo and different price. - Is using less RAM sometime AquariusStorage 04-20-2009, 10:19 PM I'd say the price is defiantly the largest difference however I noticed at least a 50mb drop in ram in comparison of a fresh VPS install of cPanel to a fresh dedicated server install of cPanel. I wonder how they made up for that drop in ram? Subpar performance? I honestly have no idea, simply curious. It also probably allowed them to better job on the VPS band wagon, aka marketing :) webhost18 04-21-2009, 01:36 AM Almost Cpanel gives the same functionality for both vps and dedi ServerManagement 04-21-2009, 02:51 AM If you are concerned about what the end user will see, they won't notice any difference in functionality. Maars 04-21-2009, 06:00 AM If you are concerned about what the end user will see, they won't notice any difference in functionality. Will the end user cpanel users be able to find out in any way that he is hosted on a vps rather than a dedicated server? Regards :) cPanelDavidG 04-21-2009, 05:46 PM I'd say the price is defiantly the largest difference however I noticed at least a 50mb drop in ram in comparison of a fresh VPS install of cPanel to a fresh dedicated server install of cPanel. It also probably allowed them to better job on the VPS band wagon, aka marketing :) The drop in RAM is largely attributed to our developers working to make the underlying code more efficient (code optimization). In some cases, this benefits both dedicated servers and virtual servers - hence in 11.24, both now consume fewer resources. There's more to it than that, but that's the underlying theme of how the software can retain all functionality but use fewer resources.
