I operate a small web site design and hosting business in Ireland. Up until now, I only host web sites that I design for clients in my local area. However, I am thinking about branching out into web hosting in a bigger way in the future. My packages would be very competitive with other Irish hosting companies.

As I really like you guys on this forum, I'm thinking of setting up a special package just for WHT users. :)

Anyway, how does the following sound:

5 GB monthly bandwidth
50 MB web space
50 E-mail accounts (can be POP3 or forwarding, or both)
ASP, PHP and Perl support
Your own cgi-bin
Server Side Includes (SSI)
.htaccess support
UPS protected servers and communications hardware
$9.95 per month.

Anything you think I should add? And would you consider signing up for this package? I was one of the first people to have Internet access in Ireland, and have been involved with computers, networks and the Internet since 1994. As I have been screwed over by several hosting companies myself, providing good reliable service to you would be one of my main objectives.

Thanks again, I'm sorry if this post is off-topic. :(

Avara, your offer is following on the heels of a much grander one made to WHT readers by another hosting company, for a few bucks more a month. You might want to scroll back a couple days in the Advertising forum and see what you're competing against. Good luck with your company.

Andy

Remember quality counts, don't worry about having the lowest prices, people who always offer prices several dollars lower get the bottom of the barrel clients, that nobody wants to deal with.. no doubt one of them will agure this point with me..

Thanks ckizer. :)

I know I can't beat the big guys on price, so that's why I won't even try to compete through price competition. Instead, my objectives are going to include focusing on quality and customer care. This is often referred to as service competition.

For one, I plan to only host a very limited amount of customers per server. Secondly, I will try to be extremely responsible when it comes to things like reliability. There is nothing worse than when a server goes down and the hosting company doesn't even care about it.

As it stands now, my offices in Ireland should be completed by 17 May. I have already ordered in ethernet cables and hubs, and plan to rent rack space and servers in the US in order to be more competitive.

I'll keep you guys posted.
