Hello all ..
Really simple question. If the registrar for my domains is down, what will be affected?
Searches at this point haven't led me to any good links. If you have them please do share! :agree:
Thanks in advance.. :)

If a registrar goes down, the root-nameservers will still have the information necessary to resolve your domain. The only thing that SHOULD be affected would be your ability to register/renew/cancel a domain until the registrar comes back up.
The difference comes in if your registrar is also HOSTING your DNS. If they are and their name servers go down, then your domains will be unresolvable. I will see if I can find any links that will explain this better than I can.

By "down", do you mean to ask what happens if your domain registrar goes out of business?
Or do you mean to ask what happens if your domain registrar simply loses their website due to a server crash or something?
---
If the registrar goes out of business, then ICANN will allocate your domain names to another registrar.
If the registrar's website goes down, then this is not a problem since your domain information is not stored on their servers.. it is stored in a central database somewhere else.

You also loose the ability to modify your domain name details if the registrar is down.
