Where to start?

We currently sell the hardware to businesses for their POS needs, but would like to add the option to process their credit card transactions without making them go through a 3rd party.

How do we go about setting up an ISO/MSP?

Thanks in advance.

Merchant accounts can be started either from specialized Merchant Account processors or even most banks (maybe your's). Personally, I use CDGCommerce and love it.

You may approach your existing clients who have credit card processing integrated into POS to see on which platform your software is compatible with and works the best. Then you may contact appropriate registered ISO/MSP on that platform and see what type of support and compensation they will provide to you for bringing them your clients.

You may become an independent contractor for the registered ISO/MSP and then be able to offer credit card processing to your clients. Just make sure you do not sign any exclusive agreements.

Head over to www.greensheet.com (http://www.greensheet.com) for any ISO MSP details. If you already have the infrastructure set up for processing your customers hardware based terminals, it should not be too difficult to get a web based gateway going. There are also companies that lease gateways which already have PCI and PA-DSS stuff complated already.
