Just wondering if Parallels are going to kill HELM.. and run with Plesk..
Some trends I have seen...
> lot of helm3 users not upgrading to helm4.
> majority of dedi companies offering plesk and not helm, there used to be quite a few that used to offer helm if i remember.
> helm4 is quite crap...we have not upgraded either.
> plesk supports both windows/linux so may be thats why?
> on parallels site there seem to be attention to plesk but not much for helm...

Does anyone know if they ever going to bring out helm5? or rename to something else.

I know there is a huge number of users for helm.. but then again MB also had lot of users until it was killed (renamed basically).

Haven't heard anything beyond their release of 4.1 last November. It does seem that Plesk is drawing more attention.

Personally, I seem to recall Parallels admitting that Plesk for Windows had several architecture issues that Helm didn't - why couldn't Helm v4.1/v4.2/v5 simply be renamed to Plesk for Windows?

Its always been the better product, and if its a branding problem, they certainly haven't had any problems renaming and applying the Parallels UI to Modernbill/Parallels Plesk Billing!

When WebHostAutomation sold off the company every thing quickly died off with it.

Unfortunately that's the way it goes.

It's impossible to know what parallels are doing with Helm.
They've already put the plesk skin on Helm4.1, and have said they are working on putting the Parallels APS - application pack platform, into helm4.1 or 4.2...

It wouldn't suprise me if they work on getting various plesk features into helm4 and then re-brand it as plesk to take advantage of the architecture..

On the other hand I can't help think that Parallels bought Helm4 to prevent it over powering Parallels enterprise products, such as PEM, which Helm4 would of provided far supior architectual flexability at 100th of the cost of PEM....

It's clear they have no intension of doing anything with helm3.. So that is as good as dead.. And as we've coded allot of custom functionality for Helm3, means we're stuck with its outstanding bugs unless we code in work arounds.

Like housands of helm customers, I'm stuck using a Parallels product until something better comes along.

I just wish, parallels wont give a billion dollar offer for taking cPanel. No competition, no fun!! May be they will take the best from Helm and slowly allow transition from Helm to Plesk.

I dont thin there is any chance of that happening...!

I have always believed that Parallels has acquired the control panels like Helm and H-Sphere just to kill the competition.

I think it didn't kill the competition infact give chance to other companies to boost their business...lol , yeah definitely Dotnetpanel and Hosting Controller their customer ratio would be increased.

yeah DNP are certainly doing alright out of Parallels' poor operational and organisational skills.
