I noticed that when a host is mentioned, sometimes for the first time in a long time, fairly often the host owner or employee posts a response within minutes of the original.

How do they know?

sometimes its that "6th sense"...other times it may be that current customers notify the host....adn every once in a while, we get that split personality

I think many of them frequently come by and use the search function to see if any messages have been posted regarding them.

That's the only way I think. Other than actually seeing your company name in the subject line.

reason i started posting here was because 2 of my customers told me "some idiot is making stuff up about your company on WHT".

So I just check here now quite often and post to [try] and help out.

Also, if the url of their site is posted in the thread they may see referrals from it in their logs.

I see just about every post across every board cos im sad - when you sit around doing what hosts do all day - there is nothing better to do than browse WHT and post replies within seconds ;)

Well sometimes when a host is mentioned someone who has them on ICQ, or MSN will drop them a note when their name comes up.

Maybe most hosts spent all their time browsing WHT when they don't have to take care of support tickets or any other hosting-business stuff ;)
