hey,

i've just bought a reseller account and asked for private nameservers. But For the life of me i cannot get them setup at Godaddy.

This is what I got

I've asked for private nameservers on my reseller account.

My reseller is under mydomain.com
My nameservers i want under mydomainX.net

the support tech gave me ns1.mydomainX.net which points to an IP and also ns2.mydomainX.net, and told me to assign it at the registrar.

So i went to godaddy and the screens don't look like those of the examples i've seen for godaddy.

I played around best I could yesterday 12:00GMT+2 and hoped the nameservers would have kicked in already but they havent.

At godaddy, i went to the domain and added 2 "A" records for "ns1" to IPone and "ns2" for IPtwo.

Should it be "A" records or "CNAME" Records?

Should I have entered "ns1" or "ns1.mydomainX.net"?

Do I need to create a subdomain with name ns1 / ns2 or is the "A" or "CNAME" - whichever is correct - the only thing I need to do?

The tech told me to contact godaddy support if I can't figure it out, so i figured where do i go when i need someone smarter than myself? WHT of course!!

Please help, I can't transfer any domains now because of this holdup.

The private nameservers are in Host Summary (every registrar is calling this setting differently, so do not worry).

See

- http://www.demodemo.com/1/tutorials/dnsns_godaddy.htm

After that, you may want to point your own domain to your own nameservers (change the nameservers of mydomainX.net to ns1.mydomainX.net and ns2.mydomainX.net)

thanks man,

I was in completely the wrong place. funny, i'd think that host summary would be on the DNS settings page.. and the layouts changed, bottom left now.

anyway..

thanks again

Layouts tend to always change, but the basic idea of setting up custom nameservers will always be the same, once you do it once you will be a professional :)

In the very bottom Left of your domain control panel, You'll see it. "Host Summary". Hit the ADD button :)
