I don't know about you guys but I'm sick of fake reviews showing up weekly, it seems nothing gets done and the host gets away with it sometimes... sometimes they just look stupid but nothing else happens.
I'd like to see harsher punishments for hosting providers that are found to have fake reviews.
1) Their account being banned?
2) Their company name showed up on list of companies not to trust?
3) Their company name replaced with *****'s so nobody can talk about them?
Suggestions?

It's good idea but i think moderators can do that by collecting some sort of proofs. As we do not have those access points to monitor the things on here.

Then there's threads popping up like "anyone used jokehost.com?" sort of thing, just to get a hit, or a link. (apologies if there actually is a company/boy/2 men and a dog, actually called jokehost).
.. and "I've been at '....' for 3 months" and the domain has only been registered for a couple of weeks! seen a few of them recently.
my favourite was a post saying 'you have to be a registered company, else it's a tax scam' then same poster later advertised his 'company' which isn't actually a registered company at all! I fell off my seat laughing at that one!

What if it's a fake negative review?

I don't see that happening. How would it be enforced? What would prevent random competitors from creating one post wonder accounts purporting to advertise newer companies? Seems like that would lead to abuse.

The best we can do is to remove these fake reviews so that they don't have a chance to get indexed by Google.
My suggestion is to require moderation of these threads before they go public.
Then there's threads popping up like "anyone used jokehost.com?" sort of thing, just to get a hit, or a link.
I'm seeing this more often, and I believe something needs to be done about it, but the methods I can think of are probably not best.

I would rather the thread stay and people know it was a fake review so when people search for that hosting company, they would look foolish.

Doing so will allow anyone the ability to bash a hosting company.
It's not sensible to suspend or punish the host either, for the same reason as above.
If however, one is able to prove a host's involvement in a fake review, the company name should be added to our word censor, permanently.

Especially the question "What is your budget?" (10 times in the same thread) is a loved sentence on these forums. :wallbash:
