View Full Version : Do Paypal hire girls only?
card_demon 04-03-2009, 04:57 AM A post at another board got my attention, and it's true.
It seems 80%+ of the support emails you get from PayPal are signed by female names. Also when you phone in 9 times out 10 it is a girl.
Anyone else notice this?
card_demon 04-03-2009, 05:00 AM I have found though for Account Managers that the split is more like 50/50 although I have a smaller sample to judge on (I have had feedback from many higher volume Paypal users in my time which is where that comes from).
What about you guys?

I don't deal with Paypal much by email, but, when I phone it's been a near enough 50/50 split of male and females.
I've noticed with calls I usually have a higher chance of getting a female than a male. As far as emails I haven't noticed.
NeosharesKaos 04-04-2009, 02:49 AM Then Paypal likes choosing females as they tend to do better at information desks and answering phones.
nicoles 04-04-2009, 03:39 AM Well lets have a vote, which would you prefer ?
1.Girls
2.Guys
3.Automated Response
I could care less about the gender as long as they do their job correctly. I'm personally ok with automated systems as long as they aren't annoying as Dell's...
jenok 04-04-2009, 11:03 AM I called 3 times to paypal center at singapore, 2 times speak with female and once with male.
and also to united state call center 4 times, all them speak with female.
so, it could be they just hire more female than male ^^

Or more females apply to the job ;) For me it's been 50:50 I prefer someone who knows what to do, gender is not important.

I prefer talking to girls if I am upset because they are more soothing in general.
PayPal does seem though to have a lot of first line support in comparison with secondline and account managers I guess that is becasuse of their low cost high volume model.
But I do find that first line support is girls more than men because generally girls will take lower pay than men for the same job. That is because their priorities in life are different.

It's because 80% of their customers are Males :)
You never know, you may get your soul mate while fighting chargebacks :D
iLoveGroup 04-08-2009, 08:32 AM I have noticed this, and its great having a lovely techy girl at the other end of the line when you call. Makes my day. I love to call paypal!
