I registered a domain about a week ago and got this:
(left header stuff out)
Namecheap.com
Domain Registration Summary
Date: 10/22/2002
Now I got this:
(also left header stuff out)
Return-path: <support@namecheap.com>
Date: Mon, 28 Oct 2002 17:31:01 -0600 (CST)

Subject: Order xxx.xx.xxx.xxx-xxxxxxxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xx Shipped

Thank you for your on-line order.
Your order #xxx.xx.xxx.xxx-xxxxxxxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xx has been shipped from NAMECHEAP.COM.

If you have any questions please contact support@namecheap.com or visit our website.

Thank you for your patronage.

I hope they are talking about the domain, but it is odd that this email came 7 days later. I mean the domain resolved within 24 hours after registering it, so why do I need a delivery confirmation? It got me wondering if I clicked on something else and ordered it in addition to the domain.
I would email them as they suggest, but posting this here may help others who have recieved this email and wondered what it is.

For the record, this is not a complaint, just an inquiry.

That's normal for Namecheap. It's just the way their billing system works.

At first I went crazy too thinking I'm being billed for something I didn't order. Had to check the creditcard charges real close. After a while of this, I figured it was just something with their billing. No problem.

Oh NO! I just realised I said "oder" instead of "order"
No, NameCheap does NOT stink. At least I don't think so. :D

Yeah I ordered a domain before I went on holiday and while on holiday got an email saying item had been shipped.

As I didnt have access to online banking, or rather did but just didnt want to login from a net cafe. I phoned my bank and they said there was only one charge from Namecheap so it must be there billing software.

I find those emails very heartwarming indeed. Definitely a feature of the checkout system. Some people when creating ecommerce programs do not take into account intangible/non-physical products and assume everything is going to be shipped.

I think its actually down to the site not selecting there shopping cart correctly rather than the designers of the cart not designing it to the needs of the user. Unless of course it is a custom solution which I suspect NameCheap have.
