It seems to me that more and more people are starting to set up more than one hosting company.. so....
How many hosting companies do you run?
How do you find the time to manage more than one?

i think managing 1 company or more is the same as long as you provide same platform .. ( all Linux, all windows ) with same data center and same control tool.

question is how many customers you can manage alone! not how many companies ( 'brand' is better than 'company')

Diversified offerings really. I wouldn't really call it seperate companies but seperate offerings (in most cases). Perhaps a "company" (web site) dedicated to colocation/dedicated servers, another dedicated to e-commerce hosting, another dedicated to "mom & pop" hosting or budget hosting that is, I think this sort of thing is a relatively common practice.

For those hosts who have 5000 clients (http://webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=81882) *cough* or more ;) it would be best to stick to just one. :D

More than one? - I'd have to be nuts :)
I run one - but "guide" 8 more.

Only one and that is more than enough. We run support for a few of our resellers too but that doesn't really count.

2 web sites soon to be 3 all under one company diversified offerings but share resources. All money etc is handled as one company.

Does anyone actually run more than one hosting company/service that offer the same services or are they different complenting services?

Simply put: hosting for different markets will need different offers and different web sites.

very well said. what one company has to offer will not always be what everyone needs or wants.

I continue to be amazed that people expect others to answer (and give honest answers) to questions such as income, number of customers, and now number of companies, although this one is a little less a private question.

However, I shall refrain from sharing. Oh....and the number is less than 1,000, too....so now it has been narrowed down....somewhere between 0 and 1000.

We only have one hosting company... it is a division of our web development and graphic design firm. I don't see the point in having multiple web hosting companies... unless you planned on getting one of them shut down for doing something wrong.

Why spend twice (or three times) as much money in advertising, web development, payment processing, etc. just to have more than one company? If you focused all your efforts into one you would have a much better chance...
