While Level2/3 professionals salaries can be VERY variable based on market / location / experience and so on (look from $20/hour and up). Trophimus 03-28-2009, 07:25 PM It mainly depends on your company structure, business plan, laws, and the amount of work that each tech is performing. Typically level I tech's are answering the calls, and interacting with the client's. They're doing minor technical support and troubleshooting; therefore they're at the bottom of the pay scale. The level II tech has some interaction with the level I tech and client, but obtains a more in-depth knowledge of the technical operations of your business, and possesses a more advanced technical knowledge. The level III tech is typically most knowledgeable, interacts with the level I and II techs to resolve the client's problem. In some cases, these techs are located at the data center. So with some common sense- the level III obviously has more education, and will be conducting more in-depth and meticulous tasks, so it's most likely that they're pay will be the highest of the three tech's, with level I being the lowest, and level II falling somewhere in the middle. Personally, I'd be willing to pay my level I tech's a bit more since they're handling the customer care, which is stressful and well, they're exposed to... the dangers that lurk within the help desk. http://www.toolkit.com/small_business_guide/sbg.aspx?nid=P05_4001 JFSG 03-28-2009, 08:25 PM If you are looking for techs in India(I recommend it), they can be hired for less than $10/hr. Moreover, they can be more hardworking too. mwatkins 03-28-2009, 09:34 PM Its unfortunate that SPAM and Virus attacks are on the rise from India. I'm blocking more and more hosts and network blocks from IN. Maybe if Westerners paid folks in India more, some might not be tempted to try to earn a buck... on the dark side with Lord Vader. If not i'd be quitting my job to become a Level 1 tech for them so I could bank $26k/mo (or whatever interval) telling people how to reboot their computers. JFSG 03-29-2009, 07:36 AM I'd imagine so. Man, level 1 tech's job is chicken feet! JohnCrowley 03-29-2009, 09:01 AM We like to buck the trend of lvl 1/2/3 and have all employees be well rounded and qualified individuals that handle calls, emails, troubleshooting, etc... This way all our clients get a quality experience no matter how they interact with our company. Of course you have to pay everyone $40k+ plus benefits to achieve this, so charging $5/month won't cut it, but it allows our company to be perceived as a quality organization that can outshine the competition. :) - John C.
