We have registered a .fm domain name at GoDaddy on 29-Apr-2008.
On 20-March-2009 we have received a notification from Godaddy that this domain name has been cancelled and they have also changed the DNS records to theirs. Now Godaddy's free parking page appears instead of our website.
In the whois query following is listed: Renewal Date: 29-Apr-2009
On my support request sent on Friday I got the following response:
Certian Country Code domains such as .fm require that renewal fee's be paid by the 20th day of the month prior to the domain's expiration. This is a universal standard for these domains and not a regulation put in place by our organization. Unfortunately it appears that the domain name xxxxx.fm has expired and is in the redemption grace period
I have read their Universal Terms of Service and they link to http://dot.fm/policy.html where they say the following:
7. Renewals: Domain names are registered on a yearly basis and require the domain holder to renew the domain name in order to maintain the rights to the domain name. ALL domains EXPIRE on the domain name's expiration date. As a result your rights to the domain name also EXPIRES on the domain name's expiration date.
Isn't the policy on dot.fm up-to-date?
During the last 5 days the domain has not been restored, their Advanced Technical Support has not sent any reply for 2 days. Are they waiting till 29-Apr-2009 when the domain really expires?!
Has anyone experienced the same at Godaddy or other .fm registrars?
