We are setting up a new network and thing about a new firewall  . The one we use now is great but at $40,000 i really don't want to pay that agian.

This network will be smaller so i am looking at CheckPoint on a Box by its self or SonicWall Pro.

Any ideas of which one would be better to go with. One is more less a stand alone and the other would be a faster server with check point and may have more control over it.

Just wanted some ideas on sonic wall and check point and what may be the good and bad parts of each one.

Brad
We use sonic wall here. It has a fairly comprehensive manual and a webbased admin tool.
We have noted however, that during peak times (many users on LAN) that we lose dataflow. This is not always the rule, but happens enough that i thought I would metion it. Dataflow resumes after a reboot of the firewall.
As foor checkpoint i have no experiance, but thought i would let you know about sonicwall.

Thanks Exbodyguard,

We have the SonicWall Pro we did have a rpoblem with it and had to get sonicwall to replace it. So we were kind of looking in to going over to check point or buying anther NetScreen but they cost so damn much $$$ its nuts..LOL
