Or do people like them? http://216.167.56.224/forum/ubb/smile.gif Matty 02-05-2000, 06:44 AM Good question. No one really dislikes resellers as a whole, some people just don't trust them. Some resellers have a bad reputation which makes it harder for other reseller to excel in the Web Hosting market. Personally there are a few resellers I dislike, a few I like and trust and the rest are unjudged in my mind. I think people are willing to host with a reseller if he/she/they have something extra to offer which is worthwhile. For example I wouldn't sign up with a reseller if they didn't have something worthwhile to offer. Guest 02-05-2000, 06:45 AM Resellers can offer packages from multiple hosts, which might give you a better variety of services. Like he said, Some offer extras such as web design, which the actual host may not offer. Resellers also may offer you a cheaper price since they themselves often get great prices (sometimes not) and can pass the savings to you. Sometimes you *can* find prices for the ssame packages listed cheaper than the actual host. The bad news: Resellers do not have to invest nearly as much time, energy, nor money to start their business. This means they could close up shop and not lose much. Also, if your reseller does not pay his bill, your site goes down (even if you paid *your* bill on time). Some may offer better customer service than the actual host since they have only 100''s of clients vs 1,000''s or 10,000''s. Some may offer worse since it is often just a part time gig. All in all, Matt''s dismissal of resellers "For example I wouldn''t sign up with a reseller", is a bit misleading. As (I am sure he knows) resellers may hide the fact that they are resellers and you just might be hosted by one and not even know it. Also, Matt buys many products through resellers everyday, so this shouldn''t be any different. His internet service provider leases the lines and resells it to someone who resells it to him. His phone company stands a good chance of working the same way. We suffer through crappy customere service in these areas, but just try to pick the best one. Price is not the only issue to consider. If you are considering a reseller (that you know about), ask them- I know you are a reseller, can you honestly tell me how long typical email responses take, who you resell for, and why I should go with you instead of the actual host. You may be surprised at the answers you get http://216.167.56.224/forum/ubb/smile.gif Matty 02-05-2000, 06:46 AM My last message was cut off, sorry for the confusion. I would sign up with a reseller and no doubt no things I buy as sold through resellers. The message is now updated. fragga 12-24-2001, 11:58 PM Blast from the past! :D :spam: SoftWareRevue 12-25-2001, 12:14 AM  Why are "Registered: Not Yet Posts: N/A" members allowed to post all of a sudden?:eek2: Locutus 12-25-2001, 12:25 AM Look at the date of the original posts, hence: Blast from the past! :D hehe :D SoftWareRevue 12-25-2001, 12:30 AM Originally posted by Locutus Look at the date of the original posts, hence: hehe :D  :uzi:fragga :D fragga 12-25-2001, 07:58 AM Originally posted by SoftWareRevue  Why are "Registered: Not Yet Posts: N/A" members allowed to post all of a sudden?:eek2: :stickout :stickout Chicken 12-25-2001, 01:11 PM I'm wondering if I wrote the 3rd post. |
