Well over a week ago I ordered my dedicated server from escaladenet.com, the deal was $50/month ($150 setup) for a Cyrix III and 40gig bandwidth/month (best cheap deal I could find).

I waited 2 days and got a reply asking my to fill in a form with my credit card details and fax it to them. I did so that night. It took a week and still I had no reply from them. I emailed them again and the response was that I ordered a linux1 server with Red Hat 7 on it, but Red Hat 7 would not install on that computer. This was not written anywhere in their site. They then said they could have a server set up in 3 minutes with FreeBSD on it, I replied saying that was fine hoping to get my server later that day. It has been 3 days since then and still no reply from them.

I am getting quite annoyed from a lack of response from them, it seems like they check their email once a week, I am just wondering how bad the response time will be AFTER I get my server.

sounds like a nightmare for me.... 10 days late for a server setup is just way too much. I even refunded 50% of a server setup fee to one client just because I was late for several hours! A week has passed and your server is not yet up? get out as soon as you can...

cheers,

Wow glad you brought this up louey, I was almost going to place a dedicated server order with them earlier on but am putting it on hold now.

On a separate note, Escalade's dedicated server pricing seems to be very attractive, wonder how they can do that...

I wonder if me giving them an email from me@mydomain.com
would cause a problem since after they set up the server
the email would go to their computer not my current hosts
computer?

Not if you didn't change the nameservers at your registrar.

louey, bail out right now. You have waited much too long as it is. Fax a cancellation to the same number to which you sent your credit card number. Watch the charges on you credit card, and contact your bank if you get charged. File a complaint with the BBB in their state to help keep other webmasters from signing up with them. There is NO excuse for not getting in touch with a customer for a week. NONE!

yes... just a friendly reminder... get out as soon as possible. Their deal is not worth the headache you are experience and sure will experience.

I have canceled my order this second. This was my email I have just sent them.

-------------

Ryan Champion,

I have not heard from you in a long while about my Linux1 FreeBSD or Red Hat server and now I wish to cancel my order as it has taken too long.

It has taken almost 2 weeks from the time of placing my order and I get no real response from you and no server set up as of yet. I do not feel you are providing the level of service I need and so I will look elsewhere for a dedicated server company.

I expect not to be charged anything for this as no service has been provided to me yet.

Yours Sincererly,
Louey Al-Salman

Just putting in my $0.02, but I would make sure you make a copy of that email, and fax it as well.
