I was thinking about reselling for cfoxhost.com, but he has been bought out by http://venturesonline.com/ I am sure everyone has heard of them, are there any other better reseller places out there, I mean for 17 dollars a month reselling, plus one time 10.00 fee;that is not bad.

Jensyd - Actually, the AIT program will cost you $4.23 per virt domain, once you get all 25. (take the cost of the resellers acct + the cost of all 25 virts and then divide by 26 (reseller + 25)

(59.99 + 50) / 26 = 4.23. Still not bad. I used the same formula to look at web2010 too. charting it out on a spreadsheet lets you see when you hit profitability, and where the sweet spot is. You have to keep your overhead in mind too (in this case its the cost of the reseller acct).

serv - VO is good. VDI....I hope they fix things fast. Its been too yo-yo like last few weeks.

TheComputerGuy - I agree with Synergy. Who? :) "Inquiring Minds Want To Know". <G>

Ventures Online are one of the most caring web hosts I've ever seen. They were even kind enough to supply a dedicated server for free to Matt for his excellent Ikonboard script. Furthermore, VDI web sites once again load very quickly for me. Maybe wait a bit and see how this VDI thing plays itself out though.

Hello
3 of my 4 VDI servers are now working normally.
The one that isn't is in a Burst.net rack and they are claiming VDI have nadwidth capped them without notification.

Anyway, that will be resolved on Monday, so things are looking better (although other hosts are still reporting extensive packet loss this may relate to specific racks)

DO NOT even consider AIT. You have no way of managing your resold accounts as the control panel is useless; any account changes/upgrades etc. must be done through customer support's ticket system, and they either screw it up or never do what they promise they will; and they will screw up your billing so dismally you won't know your butt from a hole in the ground.

The resold control panels >> useless. Don't work. I tried to customize mine repeatedly, they'd just revert to default, and I followed directions to a T. None of the features worked on them. *ugh* You pay $2/domain, you get what you pay for.

And they keep spamming here. If they provided decent service, they wouldn't need to resort to spamming to get a good rap.

Ventures Online is the way to go. I have simply not found a finer group of people. Pat and John are REALLY helpful... just had a tech issue this a.m., and 2 minutes later, it was answered. Full explanation, full help, done. How's that for service!!!

And amidst all the whining about VDI in the past few days... honestly, my sites have been doing great. I have seen very little downtime and the speed has been super. VO has their servers set up Right, with adequate bandwidth... not overloaded (like Burst *ahem*)... outstanding job. They're riding the wave with VDI but have done all they can to minimize the VDI-related burps and really, the service has been quite good even through this supposedly terrible time... ???

Prices -- great -- because you can mark up to whatever you want. The starting prices are very reasonable.

And good service IS priceless. Literally. :)

To our Valued Customers:

First of all we would like to thank all of our customers for their patience and understanding relating to Network issues during the last several weeks. Because of these issues, we felt it prudent to evaluate our requirements for a Network Operations Provider.

Although VDI is working to rectify the problems, we have decided that we need a provider that is in a position to accommodate our future growth and provide reliable Network performance. We also want to eliminate 3rd party dependency for managing hardware.

THE DECISION:

After several weeks of evaluation, interviews and negotiations, we have decided to lease a Private Suite in Verio's new state of the art Denver Data Center.

BENEFITS:
Stable, reliable Network with switch, router and bandwidth redundancy.
Currently has 2 OC3's and an OC12 with plans to have a total of 4 OC12's by the end of the year. All four OC12's will be upgradeable up to OC192's with on site hardware upgrades only.
Ability to manage our own hardware by having our own technicians on site, will remove 3rd party dependency for setups and upgrades.
Guaranteed service levels and technical support by Verio.
Capability to adapt to most any need a customer may have.
IMPACTS TO OUR CUSTOMERS:
Daniel is working on a detailed migration plan, the details of which will be shared at a later date, but we are currently planning no visible down time.
All IP addresses will change. Once the new server is up, any name servers for that server will need to be updated. This will be the responsibility of the owner of the domain for that nameserver. We are setting up a DNS server to reroute the nameservers until the change is propagated. Also, any customers who have links using IP addresses should be notified ahead of time to change them to domain name based links by the move date. All nameserver owners should verify their email address is current with their registrar.
We will take care of the server moves. Our current plan is to move the data to new servers at the Denver facility in groups. We have an agreement with Verio to assist us with the data moves and have contracted with a computer company in New Jersey to handle the hardware shipments.
PRICING:
Although this change significantly changes our costs, we are NOT planning to increase our current account prices at this time. We are considering increasing fees for new dedicated servers, but will make the pricing decisions some time after the move. The only current change is to the monthly CPanel/WHM pricing for new Co-Locates, which will increase to $50.00 per month and is effective immediately.

CPanel/WHM:
CPanel and Webhost Manager will continue to be included as they are today.

More About Verio:

Company Information:
About Verio Inc.
Verio Inc. is a leading provider of comprehensive business Internet services, with an emphasis on serving the small and mid-sized business market. Since its inception in 1996, Verio has rapidly established a global presence through the acquisition, integration and growth of independent Internet providers with a business customer focus. Verio supports its operations with highly reliable and scalable national infrastructure and systems including a facilities-based Tier One national network. Verio delivers locally-based sales and engineering support in 45 of the top 50 U.S. markets under the Verio brand name and provides Web-hosting services to over 400,000 customers in more than 170 countries.

Verio's network is comprised of over 200 POPs. Each POP is a Telco class facility featuring auxiliary power, non-water-based fire prevention systems, climate controlled and card-key based security.

Verio's high performance National Network is fast, reliable and scalable. It combines key components that are critical to the operation of a state-of-the-art Internet service: a high capacity national backbone, a 24-hour Network Operations Center (NOC) and superior engineering support services. The National Network links Verio's local points of presence to each other and to the key national exchange points - MAE West, MAE East, NY NAP and the Digital Internet Exchange, located in Palo Alto, California.

The network features OC48 and OC12 links, as well as Cisco 12000 series gigabit switch router technology, which connect the national exchange points and Verio access points. Verio's regional networks and carrier class POP facilities connect to one of the access points located in metropolitan areas throughout the United States.

Network capacity has been increased to OC48 and OC12 capabilities and additional access points are being added as Verio expands its service area.

In September, 2000, Verio was merged into NTT Communications. NTT Communications, a subsidiary of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone (NTT) Corporation (NYSE:NTT), has been expanding its global network services and IP-based services, primarily focusing on Asia, to meet the growing demand for corporate data communications services over the Internet.

Peering Relationships

Verio is a Tier One ISP who's peering relationships can be verified by the use of trace routes. The peering contracts between Verio and other Top-tier IP Network providers contain typical limitations on the disclosure of details of the agreement, and in certain instances preclude disclosure of the existence of the agreement.

Verio's Public Peering
Over 100 public peers
MAE West, MAE East, NY NAP & PAIX
Adding AADS - Chicago
Verio's Private Peering
~20 Private peering partners
over 80 Private peering points today
Roughly 85% of Verio traffic goes over private peering links
Verio's Network Operations Center
Verio's network is monitored 7 days a week, 24 hours a day by the Network Operations Center (NOC) in Dallas, Texas. The NOC provides network monitoring, performance and traffic management to both the national and ISP networks. It also furnishes real-time network status to Verio Customer Care and assists with problem resolution.

In addition, the NOC serves the national Network with real-time alarming, event correlation, forecasting and notifications of network events. Verio's national engineering group, strengthened by its regional engineering teams, constantly monitors and upgrades network technology whenever and wherever appropriate.

More information will be shared as we finalize the details of our move. Thank you again for your patience and support.

Sincerely,

Pat Fread
