Hi,

I just got a dedicated server from Rackshack few days ago, and I am doing server admin for the first time in my life.

I have heard that there are a few books on Cobalt Raq but, I could not find it at all. I looked in local book stores, and online as well.

Does anybody know where I might be able to find these books? Also, if you know of any online resources that might have usefull info.

Thanks much !

Hello,

One of the best resources available to your is Cobalts site. On there you can subscribe to mailing lists for up to date info such as if the latest patch breaks anything and so forth. You can also search the archives for help.

Other websites I have found to be helpful include the following:

http://www.cobalthosts.com/

http://teamcobalt.interliant.com/pg_faq_index.shtml

http://www.raqresources.com/

Also, many common questions may be answered by searching the Cobalt forums on these boards as well.

Regards,

Mike

By far, the cobalt-users list has been most helpful. Not only do you have some of the developers able to help you on that list, you have alot of knowledgeable and willing hosting techs!

But the #1 thing you should not do on that list is ask "newbie" questions (they get so mad - rarr they'll bite your head off)...those can be asked here :D.

But running a search on the cobalt-users list will usually get you what you need from error messages, to DNS, to I dunno ANYTHING!

A good resource for new admins is the Linux Newbie Administrator Guide:

http://frf.hypermart.net/linux-newbie/

and other places. Although not cobalt specific, this will give you an intro to the many parts of being an admin. Also, there are many HOW-TOs for all different types of linux tasks.

Much of the linux info in these documents can be applied to the cobalt raq's...
