is it a must to have 2 nameservers to host a website
like when i put the ns1 in domain configuration do i need a second one or will 1 be enough?

You will probably need two if you are registering a domain.
There are some company's that offer free domain parking.
Ask around.

i wanted to host it myself but only have 1 ip
i can get my domain registration place to register the name server for me but i got one ip address so only 1 name server will be made

Try out a service like zoneedit.com. You put in your IP there, and they give you their nameservers and their IP at your registar.

yeah you need the two ips to register two name servers and yes you need two name servers. I suggest using zoneedit.com or somthing.

You can register your own nameserver with 1 IP and use zoneedit.com as slave nameserver

Dont some Registrars allow you to register more than one nameserver on a single ip now?
I have heard of people doing this but never done it myself.

Yep, with Enom you can register more than one nameserver on a single IP.
