What companies besides IBM, HP, Dell offer 24/7 on-site repair of products? I can't seem to find other servers that offer on-site service.

Also, if there are no others, how would I go about finding a third party who could do onsite service in the area (where I colo my servers but not where I live)?

Doesn't your colo provider offer this? Its quite standard for non-ghetto colo providers.

I just signed up, so haven't gotten into this with them and they haven't asked... what is the standard procedure, would I need to keep spare parts with them in case something happens?

They're not "ghetto", in fact they are very high regarded colo... tier 1 backbone provider. But they give me this:

Dear (The Newbie):

Remote hands will not allow for any open case/box repairs. Component repairs are limited to "hot swap modules" where no tools are required (ie hot swap power supply's, etc).

Remote hands will re-seat connections, reboot devices, attach monitors, perform visual inspections, change out cables or loopback plugs, etc....

I have included a the remote hands services documents for you that describes what is included.

Thanks

Strange every place I know of you can get to swap parts for you.

What happens if your cpu/mobo fries? I would expect any decent provider to repair stuff, at your expense granted, and they may need time to get the equipment (lets face it, no reasonable provider can keep a warehouse of stock to support every colo configuration people might have), but they should be able to do *something*. Ask them what happens if the motherboard fries :).

I don't think your colo company would allow an outside source to do onsite repair inside their facility. But then again I could be totally wrong. You may want to double check on that.

Thanks

If they don't allow people to fix it on site, and theydon't do it themselves, they aren't a Colo company, they are Server Terrorists holding your computer hostiage. ;) Of course they (99.9999%) allow people to fix your server (w/your permission of course).
