I've had 2 web hosts, both terrible, I'm looking for a third. I'm posting my experience mainly to ruin the reputation of the web hosts I had bad experience with, so you don't fall for them like I did.

My first host was onlinemalls.com, found out about them on ebay. Things were all cool until they shut down my anonymous FTP because more than five people accessed it in the same hour (it a game patch). E-mail the tech support, got told that out of the more than 50 sites on the same machine, only 10 users are allowed in total per hour for an anonymous FTP, along with a message "If you are not satisfy with our service, we'll gladly refund...". Sure, easy to say when I just set up the 300 pages web site.

I stayed with them for about 1 1/2 year. They would randomly disable your script or even your whole web site without noticing you, for a script that's been run for 6 months suddenly they wake up one day, point at it and say "hey that's eating up our resources!". Yeah, sure, they added another 50 sites to the same machine and now they're disabling scripts. They disabled my banner script, and that did it (I mean that's like the main source of funding for the site), I moved.

Second host was and still is Canaca.com, for those of you who've read the pain stupidity posts on this very forum made by them, you are already smiling evil... They are basically a bunch of inexperience, very non-professional web host wannabes. If something goes wrong, they'd tell you a bunch of very basic **** that's not even right to explain to you how hard it is to maintain a "world-class web server" (that's not even theirs), they are hosted and sell reseller accts off CT.

For everything that randomly goes wrong on any given day, you have to investigate the problem, remotely, yourself, then e-mail them 3 times, call them up 3 times to explain to them what exactly went wrong and cross your finger and hope that they finally understand what the f--k is going on and get them right by sheer luck.

Onlinemalls.com and canaca.com, beware folks.
