How many people here have failed with reselling or can anyone succeed if they try?

Some make little profit. Few may suceed. DigitalXWeb 04-11-2001, 04:44 PM Zuby84, IMHO, most resellers fail due to lack of commitment and time. I think if you have the time and are willing to put in late nights and deal with clients it is possible to be very successful (using a good host also benefits). However I also believe that some think they can just jump into reselling without doing anything and customers will fall into their lap. I would have to agree also to what Synergy has said, I have just read a survey in a magazine about this very issue and the article stated that 60% will fail within the first 6 months , 35% will break even at 12 months and 5% will show a profit at 12 months.I cant remember which magazine it was but I will try to locate it. Synergy 04-11-2001, 06:09 PM I read from the Synergy Mag (joke) that 80% fail within 6 months, 15% shows little profit, and 5 % actually makes money; however here is my advice: Research for prices before you start even considering to start reselling a webhosting company. Reselling would not work out unless you want to be a NON PROFIT ORG :). projo 04-11-2001, 08:47 PM How else can you learn so much for so little money? Where else is the learning curve as steep as when doing it all yourself? What better way to become the prized future employee for a network-challenged company? Gary But how do you really feel? ;) ;) Walter 04-12-2001, 02:23 PM IMHO the interesting point is: most fail not due to the lack of technical skills but "merchant" skills (don't know a better word). GordonH 04-12-2001, 04:06 PM Yes Its 60% marketing 30% customer relations and 10% technical ability. Gordon Walter 04-13-2001, 02:44 AM Yes, you worded it better (english is not my native language). But I would see the customer relations more important than marketing! |
