Does cpanel have any kind of anto virus inbuilt in the same, I tried sending .scr attachment files which got returned saying that they can be potential virus infected.

Anyone have any ideas , if cpanel has anti virus inbuilt it is cool

There is an antivirus plugin for cpanel whoever your problem is caused by exim blocking all emails with attachements .scr ( and many others ). What I would do is zip the file and send it.. I think thats the only way you will get it to go unless you ask your host to remove .scr from the banned attachement list.

i wonder if it's realy an antivirus!
i mean,it might block some file extensions, but does it scan for common known viruses?
and does it have the capability to open and scan zipped or tar ball files?

Its more of a preventative measure rather than an anti virus tool. There is a new antivirus plug in for cpanel however

I'd be interested in hearing more about this.

Virus protection doesn't seem to be a common option. Just done a quick check and only found LavaHost and SurgeHost providing it.

Seems strange - is virus protection not in demand as a webhosting offering?

The antivirus download can be found @ http://layer1.cpanel.net

Have a look on their forums before installing it though for all the info. Many had problems (myself included) with no email getting through after the install and it needed to be uninstalled.
