View Full Version : What kind of car do you have?
Mester 10-18-2002, 05:07 PM After readign the gas prices page, I wonder what peopel drive to get by where they pay over $1 CAD per litre. So, what do you drive (and engine and gas milage if you know)
We have
2001 Nissan MaximaSE 3.0 v6 25mpg 70L tank
1993 Cadillac STS 4.6 v8 25mpg 76L tank
And the poll - where'd you buy it from?
ScottD 10-18-2002, 05:10 PM Currently driving 2000 Olds Intrigue GLS, approx 28MPG. Waiting patiently for next summer when the Cadillac CTSi comes out, if it happens.
Oh yeah, also have a 2002 Chevy Trailblazer. Not sure on the MPG, but it isn't bad for a little truck.
Andrew 10-18-2002, 05:13 PM I've got a 5.0l V8 Mustang Cobra (like 10mpg because of no smog and body grounded injectors) and a 2.8l V6 (gas mileage too depressing to count)Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera.
Mester 10-18-2002, 05:14 PM What kidna mileage does a ford 305 get, lightnin?

Really lousy...lol...but it's meant for fun not economy. :) It gets about 10-12mpg. 20 on the highway but I live in the city, so that doesn't come into play much.
<edit> it's a 302, not a 305...that's a chevy engine! :D </edit>

How'd you fit a 5.0 in a Probe? How'd you handle the front wheel drive?
The probe GT comes with a Mazda manufactured 2.5L/153ci DOHC V6 generally. I can't see a 302 even fitting in there!

stripped the transmission...everything out...i had to make my own rear axel (actually had a shop do it for me)...it sits a bit higher in the back than the front...but with the gfx kit (which i had modded) it looks fine...the original 2.5l v6 (mazda your right, which is owned by ford) had over 250k miles on it...i wasn't really looking to mod it...so basicly i took a front wheel drive car and turned it into a rear wheel drive ;-)...it was originally a automatic modified it and its now a standard (ripped the consul out of a standard)...runs good...cept it will probly never be street legal

I have a 92 Cadillac Eldorado (4.9 v8, 18 GAL. tank) and get 17.2 MPG in the city and 22-25 on the highway.
When I bought my car I was only getting 14-15 MPG in the city and then my dad and I applied a lot of tips and tricks from www.caddyinfo.com, and they really worked!
I envy your northstar  as I almost got a '93 but couldn't tell a difference other than the price tag.
I'm still quite happy with my purchase though because I've modified my front bumper and rear bumper and it now looks like a 2000. The only difference is I don't have fog lights.
This is the only way you can tell my car isn't a 2000+ beside the interior.
Okay, enough car talk now. Back to hosting..
P.S. Gas is $1.61 here, but if I drive to the middle of twon it's a $1.57.

ive thought about racing it..just haven't done it...i took it to the dry lake near my house (its like the salt flats basicly if you know what those are)...i out ran my bike going from 0-60 (bike weighs 200 pounds and it roars)...that was without the turbo on it...i saw on a while back on ebay ill try to pull up pics of what mine sorta looks like...i dont have a digital camera so i have to use a 35mm and scan it...so ill get one out later sometime and post a thread with it...

Got it 5 years ago when I was on the road constantly. Gets 26 mph highway, about 8 in the city -- on premium.
Has 186,000 miles on it and I need to put it out to pasture very soon. Climate Control has died and it costs a fortune to fix. Transmission is going, too. Motor is strong, though. Love that V8!
