Hi,
We've all been there, waiting for the first client to show up. The thing is, don't get too hung up on it. Make sure your site is perfect (or as close to it as you can make it). Make sure your plans and setup procedures are configured correctly. Do a bit of advertising on GoTo.com ( or someplace similar). Sit back and wait. And, remember to treat your customers as you wish to be treated.
Everything else will take care of itself :)
Good Luck!

Word of mouth help you get started.
If you have any friends or associates with a web site or who want a site maybe you can get them over to you for a start.

Word of mouth and submit site whenever possible
Hosting directories AND promotional sites sometimes have lists of free places to advertise.
Good Luck!

Word of mouth is the best in long term, I think. It is very hard to keep most of clients happy though.
I'd rather choose a host that others say good than a host that just advertises a lot(*****, YEAH!)

First of all Congratulations.
1. List your company details and plans at most of the web hosting directories. I have got a links to most of them, will email you.
2. Write a press release about your company's launching and submit to maximum directories and where ever applicable.
3. when you get pre-sale query try to be honest and let your customer know that you have newly launched. There are few good reasons why customer may want to stay with you. New company so little or no customer and they will get personalised service. There site will be all alone on whole server therefore better speed.
4. Keep your customer happy, after some time they will start promoting you.
5. Keep eye on whats happening all around and get new ideas.
Hope these will help.

Sanjay, and the others here, have made excellent comments.
Congratulations on getting your company going - this is an exciting time for you, and as long as you uphold your promises to your clients, you should do just fine. Word of mouth is very powerful, especially on the 'Net, so be 100% honest with your clients. They will appreciate it. Quite often, clients like the smaller companies because of the friendly approach and great customer service.
Keep us posted as to your success and good luck!
Jenn.
