Hi all,

I am new to the hosting arena. I am looking to host a small site, which will probably not grow to more than 30MB. I do, however, need CGI support and POP email accounts. Most of all, I need a reliable service. I have gone through some of the Web sites offering hosting services and came across "your-site.com". They offer the package below for $60/year.

Can anyone share their experience with this service? It seems to offer what I need at a reasonable price, but I would really like to be sure before I go into this. If you have had any bad experiences with them and/or can suggest other sites that would better suite my needs, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks,

Jacob.

The package offered by "your-site.com" for $60/year:

CGI and SSI Application Support
25 POP3 Mailboxes

There are many reputable hosts on this board including
http://www.wizardshosting.com
http://www.site5.com

to name a few. They may have the specs you are looking for

Hi,
I've personally used your-site.com in the past and can say that they are a good host. The lack of MySQL and PHP in the basic price may concern you if you ever want to run software or scripts that use them. Also, I believe, they do not yet offer a control panel for basic account functions (you do get a email control panel). Overall though, they are a fine choice for a host. :)

Thanks Jim for your honest input. Did you require any Technical Support from them? If so, how was their response time & quality?

Jacob.

Hi,
The few times that I needed to contact them, they were prompt and helpful. I can't remember exactly what my problem was though. I just remember it worked out well :)

I had a domain hosted with them for over a year and other than some minor delays in email, I found them to be very good, uptime included.

Their telephone support is always answered by a human and all issues resolved promptly and courteously.

Email support is always within 24 hours. They accept payment via personal/business checks and even when I was late in paying (I had forgotten to update my email address with them, thus resulting me in not receiving their invoice until I called them 2 months later), they did not suspend or cancell my hosting services.

The only reason I stopped hosting with them is because of the extra they charge for databases and I wanted to start using MySQL.

I do highly recommend them if they have the features you want and their prices are within your budget.

Good Luck!

I can add a strong recommedation for your-site.com, while my experience is quite a while back. I had my own site hosted by them for a while, and then resold through them for a few months. We only left after outgrowing reselling.

It's probably not important, but worth noting, that they use Suns and Solaris, not the more common Linux.

PepsiCoke's right, there are a lot of fine hosts that maintain a presence here. But that group in no way represents all the good hosts that are available, and posting here doesn't make a host "good" by itself. Your-Site impressed me as being hard working, direct, and honest; one of those rare hosts that actually sent out an explanation when they experienced brief downtime, instead of just hoping that the customers didn't notice.

Thank you all for your honest feedback. It looks like your-site.com has just earned themselves another customer.
