alchiba 04-10-2001, 07:40 AM Don't worry. I'll give it back when I'm done. :)
Dylan 04-10-2001, 09:44 AM Free for how long?
Hey alchiba,
Do you have a link to unregister? I use a crappy host (*****) and I am getting e-mails every 5 mins now.
Regards

There's no plan to ever charge for this service. However, additional features to the basic service are being developed that would be offered at a nominal charge.

alchiba 04-16-2001, 04:52 PM A few of you have asked what we do with the information that's collected on the WebPulse sign-up page. The answer: Nothing.
Well, not entirely nothing. The info is stored in a database in order to feed the monitoring engine with data, but otherwise it is kept quite confidential. We won't use it for any purpose other than monitoring activities. That's a promise.
A new sign-up page will be posted shortly with a privacy statement included.
Thanks for the tremendous response, everyone!
yeah, people are always concerned with their privacy. anyway, are you going to have neat looking charts like qwk.mon?

you betcha!
cool. i dont suggest you rip qwkmon or netwhistle off but if you want to compete with them, try to take what they have an incorporate it into your services too. even building on it and making it better.
bteeter 04-16-2001, 09:05 PM This is just what I came looking for. I didn't even have to search! :)
Thanks a bunch!

No way. Don't want Travis chewing me a new one over this thing. It's not worth that.
BTW, new pages are up. Privacy statement open for public viewing.
Travis 04-16-2001, 11:44 PM I only chew people a new one when they deserve it... honest competition is good; keeps me on my toes. :)

I would like an option in which I can give up my timezone. Because I'm in Europe the time isn't correct when I get an email, so I'll never know when exactly my server is down.
alchiba 04-17-2001, 07:02 AM Very good point about timezones. Currently, the time is expressed local to the server with a note that it's GMT -5, for example, leaving you to do the math. (vBulletin does this too.) I'll put this on the to-do list.
Chips&Beans 04-17-2001, 12:47 PM Ok, thanks for the offer of a free service but I've had enough !! I think you have a long way to go !
I could post a long list of suggestions but the main problem is getting an SMS message every 5 minutes. I presume that the timeout is too short. I've asked to be removed from your service since it blocking out real messages !!
I also presume that you've taken a good look at people like Netwhisltle or Red Alert ?
Good luck though, we could do with a free service since most of the big boys have moved over to charging.

I've receive three reports about this. The problem is the same as Chas' above, where the URL is entered incorrectly in the order form. New code will be implemented tonight which will correct this issue. Until then, please follow the instructions on the form.
I apologize for the nagging and erroneous alerts, but it does showcase WebPulse's persistence. ;)
superiorhost 04-18-2001, 04:05 AM Sounds like it is worth trying out. With network issues and all... it is a good time to help beta test this thing.
