don't believe it i tried to submit http://i4net.tv/marticle/ to Altavista Australia and it says they don't accept .tv submissions :mad:

does anyone know why ?

That's a new one on me, I can't see why they wouldn't take them because they are a genuine ccTLD (Tovalou SP?).

Maybe because they only accept .com/.net/.org/.com.au sites since it's Altavista Australia? I dunno, just an idea.

I was thinking something like Justin said. Since ccTLDs were originally meant to designate the country of origin, and since some of the major search engines (like AltaVista) do separate sites by their country of origin, they probably just haven't adjusted to ccTLD's as profit centers and alternatives to the big 3.

Does AltaVista Australia even accept .net, .org and .com? It may only accept .something.au.

But, yes, definitely it's because it's looking for only Australian sites (even if yours is, it won't think so). You should be able to submit to the International AltaVista alright.
