EdgeHost is down again. Four hours down now.

It's getting really difficult to keep hosting with them.

I was about to open a reseller account with them but with all these posts about downtime with them i guess i would be mad to jump on now

I know at the begininng of the month they were having major problems with their Cisco routers, but they were supposed to recieve all new ones and the problem was supposed to be cleared up.

I guess not. :-\

But if there main site is up, at lest that is something. Last time they went down, ALL their servers were down, including the one hosting edgehost.com

Not mad, so much as waiting maybe two weeks for everything to settle and the servers running fine.

Obviously, I can't speak for Edgehost, but I figure any site that's suffered a serious technical problem like they had, is going to be followed by short periods of downtime while everything is tweaked back into normality.

Looking to open modest accounts with both Dixiesys and Edgehost within a month. Unless the problems with the latter persist, then I honestly can't see any reason to change that.

If you are looking into edgehost, I would give them a little time. They had pretty good comments here before this month.

I joined this month RIGHT when everything went down, so I bailed b.c I had a site and didn't want the downtime, but if you are looking now, and can wait, I would give them a chance. The tech support is really good, even if they are working overly hard recnetly. :)

Yes - that's precisely why I'm keeping an open mind on them. I used the search function on the forum to check out lots of the company names mentioned here, looking for good or bad comments. I eventually lined up on three, and slow e-mails from the third settled it at two.

Of course, I know there are other good hosting companies out there - I guess each person's search leads to a different goal.

I think you mean 'router' without the "s". From what I read, they didn't have a backup. That was why is was so long.

No,

We did have a backup router, however that router had to have thousands of IP's re-routed. Hence the reason it took so long :(

Thanks,
Alec

No i meant routers with the "s" b.c the backup router had trouble too. lol

Is everything ok now alec?

The new cisco routers are being put in place today. From then on the network should run smoothly for a LONG LONG LONG time ;)

Thanks,
Alec

Just for clarification, I believe this problem is with only one of their servers. I'm on a different server with Edgehost and everything is working fine with that one. I believe that the server I am on is in a different datacenter, so I'm guessing that EH is waiting on the datacenter end as well as Cisco. So while customers (and hosting companies) would never want any servers going down, I think this problem is with a specific server and not with EdgeHost service as a whole.

just my 2 cents...

The best part of this problem is that Edgehost will, I imagine, have far tighter backup plans in operation. That means less chance of site failure in the event of any other problem.

Something any host should take real seriously.

Well, that is fine. But when you start a *business* that involves making sure peoples businesses (some peoples lives) are working, age is irrelivant. The age thing is a cop-out and I am sure Alec would agree.

Guys,

I understand how you feel about ages in any type of business, and I do agree with the comments that you are making.

However, I don't own the business, nor do I run the business. That would not be wise, and I don't think that I am ready to own/run my own business yet. I would find it hard myself to get even a reseller account to start my own business. Plus, I love working with Edge Host and our current staff

I work my ass off at Edge Host to make sure that people get what they deserve. If I didn't think that I would make a positive impact then I would not be doing what I am doing.

The only complaint that I have is that some people jump to the conclusion that I own/run Edge Host. That is far from the truth... it just appears that way since I do everything possible to help everybody out. If somebody has a question/problem just contact us... we would be more than willing to give you an honest answer.

Thanks,
Alec

Same here. Everything is looking fine and dandy over on this side. Can't say I have any complaints yet. ;)

Just checked... no problems here either.
