Anyone using this? Wondering how its working out for people and if anyone has edited the look of it, at least the client side.

Zach,
I developed cbms. Currently we are overhauling the look of cbms. I've given it over to our web designer here at voxel and he's making up for my "lackluster" html skills. Let me know if there's anything else that you think cbms might benefit from.

I know, I know, the readme sucks. I can write code at a decent speed but putting together actual english sentences correctly, takes me forever. I just haven't had a chance to sit down and do it. But it will be together soon. Any questions at all, let me know.

I have been testing it works great and it has potential for expansion.

And if you ask him questions they get answered.

Keep up the good work boo :)

Well, i think the add new user page should be the actual sign up page for the new customers saving you LOTS of time.

So a configurable entry page would be great (differnt hosting packages and more besides the usual info required). oh don't forget the domain name as well ;-)

What about foreign currencies??? Ehm, my english isn't what it's supposed to be...

thanks,
Domenico

Hi Boo,

I have a question - why doesn't CBMS (or does it and it's just not apparent on the web site?) have integration for credit card processing? It would seem that, since the average ISP/web host probably has 75% or more of their clients on credit card billing, that would be an essential thing to have.

Oh noo please. No cc processing is required here I think. For that there are allready plent solutions available.

I'm really glad everyone likes cbms.

Answers:

1)A client sign up page has already been written and will be included in the next release. How it works is that a signup script goes up on the main web page and users put in their various bits of info and asks them if they want to start an account or just more info. It also asks if they want to be contacted by phone or by email. The part I like about it is that i've written a quote generator that also goes on the main site, the user can select what different things they may want and it gives them a quoted price and a specific code for what they want. It's currently got a front end and everything to configure it. Then when someone signs up online they can put in the code and which goes into the db with everything else. In the main client list there's a link to potential customers where you can view the info for people who signed up and if they start an account you run another script and it sets them up in the database as a full client. You can also, of course, delete them if the choose not to start an account. I hope this is what you are looking for.

2)Integrated credit card payment was not a priority at first because A)At voxel we already had a method that worked well enough for our purposes. B)As mentioned there are other solutions that work just fine for it C) the system wasn't ready for it.

Which leads me to my next point:

Good/Bad news depending on how you look at it) You may have heard that cbms is being integrated with our support system ticketsmith and our newly written server control panel awesom and will be marketed as a subscription based package. It will naturally have extra features and added bells and whistles. We are just now completing the overhaul of the look of cbms that will be a part of it. I've been meaning to put up a screen shot and i'll try and do that today. Integrated credit card payment will be a part of the new system soon.

Fear not though, the open source version will continue on as well. Unfortunately, the next release is being put on hold a little bit as this new package is being finalized. I will still be adding features and nothing will be lost but as you probably expected it will be different than the full version.

Well i hope this answers some of your questions and raises a few more. We will be needing testers for the new system so let me know if you are at all interested.

ok, i just got the screen shot up of the new look of cbms.
http://www.voxel.net/projects/cbms in the screen shot section. Let me know what you think. This WILL most likely be the same for the new package as well as the open source release.

Looks good! The major concern to myself isnt the admin look as much as the client side look. Could we get a screenshot of that too?

Also whats the ETA on the next release?

One question with it, when you are adding a new client and there is that Invoice Due Date option. What is the syntax for this and the exact use?

Thanks

The client side of things is something that is still being ironed out. I don't have a finalized version of it yet. It will very closely resemble it's current incarnation, just a little more concise.

I can't really say when the next release will be. This does not mean that it's an incredible distance, just that it won't be released before it's ready. that's all i can really offer.

The datepay field. What it is is a day of the month that a given client's invoices are due on. invoice.php the automated script uses this number to determine when it sends out invoices. It sends them out 15 days before the datepay of a client. This allows for the admin to spread it's invoicing out rather than having every person's payments due at the same time. It should be a number between 1 and 28. If it's higher than 28 the script just sets it to 28 since not every month has a 29th, 30th or 31st date. Hope that answers your question.

If I had to get the new version you are making I would prefer a once off fee rather than subscription based.

I also hope theat you still be supporting the opensource version.

An annual billing option already exists.

Also, FYI, the credit card automated billing is definitely on our plates.

What are your thoughts on the new interface?

Cheers,

ok, I'll be putting together a cbms mailing list very very soon. Anyone who wants to be on it email me. If you want to be a tester then definitely email me. It should be setup in a day or two hopefully.

hi all.

we're (finally) in the position to be able to give everyone who wants a demo of the new version a login to a demo account as well as a tour of its new features.

if you would like such a tour and login, please call the office at 518.272.3568 to arrange for a tour.

cheers,

Can you please leave the dollar signs?

It is not needed and this way the software is more international useable...
