you know, I've always wondered what would happen if I poked that button.. never had enough information on it to risk giving it a push though. This is going to be an interesting thread I hope.

I believe it turns on 32 bit transfer and UDMA

actually its a secret button, after which if you press it, the harddrive will go into red alert and in about 10 minutes, your hard drive will exceed 20,000* F and it will basically melt into a ball of metal.

DARN IT!!!! I pressed that button 9 minutes ago!!!

I think the guys at voxtreme have pressed it before.

Ok, heres what it did.

Hard Drive Optimizations Enabled
/dev/hda:
setting 32-bit I/O support flag to 1
I/O support = 1 (32-bit)


and the server is still working ok.
