I am going to sign up for Hostsave. I am on a limited budget and need to have my website hosted for about 6 months at least. Basic stuff just 1 POP and 10mb of space with little bandwidth (like 500mb/month is more than needed) - therefore I dont want to spend a lot of money and hostsave has it for $6.95 a month and right now with no setup.

Anyone have any expierience good or bad please let me know. thanks!

My personal experience says to run as far as you can in the opposite direction. You get what you pay for and I lost alot of business by using them. I would tell you to go to hostsearch.com and look, but they are paying advertisers there and have perfect reviews. I put a negative review on them and it was never posted. hmmmmmmm. I have moved every last site I hosted away from them and have not had any problems come remotely close to the problems I had with them.
LOLOL I have been waiting for someone to ask about Host Save so I could flame them. But then again, I am only one person, and I had seven accounts with them. They are one of the reasons I decided to be a host myself, so I would never be treated like that again.

lynx, that sort of plan is available at quite a few hosts, even more cheaply, with better support.

http://www.hostmatters.com/plans.html
http://www.dynamichostingsolutions.com/beginner.html
http://www.affordablehost.com/hosting.html (requires yearly for the smallest plans)
etc.

I'd recommend not going with someone who prices at rock bottom, as generally performance follows price. The above three should get you started.

Not always! ;)
As always, do your homework. Price does not always equal performance. Don't pass a host by because they're 'rock bottom' without checking them out - you might miss a great deal. 'Course, I'm biased...

Check out Donovan's site @ http://www.servus.ws - he has plans from $4.95 w/no setup. Good features and he works hard too.

Hello
One of the biggest problems with Hostsave is that mail seems to take a long time to come through their system.
I still have an account with them (had it for years) and only just moved my personal domain off it.
As soon as the domain went on my own server the mail started coming through instantly.
Previously it could be 5 - 10 minutes on a good day.
Hours on a bad day.

I've been using HostSave for over two years and USUALLY things have been pretty good. The price is reasonable, server space is ample and when no human intervention is required, everything runs smooth and efficiently. The tech support leaves a lot to be desired and the 99.9+ uptime guarantee is a joke. I haven't been able to FTP to one of my sites for 4 days. For the first two days I was lied to and told nothing was wrong. On the third day they finally admitted they were doing maintenance to the service and that things would be back to normal within 24 hours. On the 4th day, I still can't FTP and HostSave is no longer answering my e-mail's. Perhaps the spell checker in my Microsoft Outlook is correct when I type HostSave and it suggests "hostage".

To agree with another poster - that does seem a bit high for what they offer. I know there are ALOT of more reliable hosts out there that offer more for less.

Be careful though, there are even more hosts out there offering alot more for alot less....those are the ones you have to watch out for!
