Yikes! I have a page up on my RaQ4i that is so popular that most can't even bring it up because there are so many users on. I have 128Mb. of RAM, 20 gigs of space and 150 gigs of transfer/month) The sites that are also hosted on the RaQ can't be viewed either. Is there anything I can do to give the RaQ a boost so people can view these pages???? How do big sites with 1000's of users do it?

Upgrade to 512 MB RAM ASAP.

This could be an Apache issue also. If I am not mistaken dont the Raq's send out a notice when the system resources are getting to a dangerously low level? If they do and you have not received one try checking your Apache config and upping your Max Connections. By doing this though if it is not a memory issue right now it could lead to one down the road.

Yes, I got notices everytime the memory went over 96%. Is upgrading to 512 Mb. RAM the only solution? It is $80 extra a month. :( But no one can get into my sites right now, so I'll pay it if I have to.

OK, here is the message I received:
Memory on the Cobalt server is heavily used.
The Cobalt server needs more memory than it currently has.
Consider adding more DRAM to the server.
Total memory is: 259572 KB
Used memory is: 248440 KB
Free memory is: 11132 KB
Percent used is: 95
What is the difference between DRAM and just RAM?

As Syanet stated an upgrade is neccessary.

DRAM (Dynamic Random Access Memory) is just a common type of RAM (like "sports car" is a common type of "car"). Sounds like you definitely need more of it.

I had the same memory problem until I did two things:
1. I installed the RaQ4 update pkg 1.0 which fixes (among many, many other things) bugs in Active Monitor related to memory usage.
2. This forces a reboot which some RaQ gurus reckon solves the problem anyway. Certainly, my memory usage was creeping up and up despite the number of sites remaining constant and having only a very light server load.
I have about 70 sites using about 4Gb of bandwidth a month, with 128Mb Ram and 15Gb HD.
Good luck!

Disabling the Active Monitor saves both cpu usage and memory usage. I have disabled the Active Monitor on my RaQ and have had no problems from doing so and I have increased my available resources a bit.

Mike
how do you disabled the Active Monitor ?
