View Full Version : Logo Poll - We need your vote!

I created a page at http://www.interactiveonline.net/logos/poll.htm so you can view them all next to each other.

We need your help in choosing a winning logo for a contest we had. We need EVERYONE'S vote (please) to determine who gets awarded the prizes. I could only include 15 entries so I picked the 15 I thought were eligible.

Prizes are as follows:
1st $100
2nd $25
3rd $10

I also had some ideas but I did not submit mine as entries. My creations are at http://www.interactiveonline.net/logos/davet1.gif & http://www.interactiveonline.net/logos/davet2.jpg. Please let me know what you think about the entries.. and the one's I created. It's time for your feedback, instead of mine :D.

I also have a layout at http://primaryserver.net/shared/newsite1.jpg. I know the layout is a rip from newedgenetworks.com, but I just wanted to put something together real quick to show you what I was looking for as far as color & style. The entries from this logo contest might not replace the current logo, but it did give me some excellent ideas on how to create my new one. Below is from the original post... so you can determine which entries came close to what I was looking for.

>>>>>
I am going to redesign my site within the next few months & need a logo. I will design it like http://www.newedgenetworks.com/products/ & http://www.ensim.com/solutions/index.html. Please notice both these sites have the same theme, style, colors, layout & a similar logo.

I will be using the blue's, light blue's, grays, and reds just like the above sites. My title bar & links will be light blue with dark blue roll-overs. As for the logos on the above sites, I like the fact that they are simple, the text is in black & there's an inviting semi-high-tech accent.

So whatever entry you submit, please visit the above sites and see if that logo would look good on the site.

Here are some logos I like, some are not necessarily web hosting, but I do like the designs:

http://www.interactiveonline.net/logo/Logo_10.gif
http://www.ensim.com/images/ensimlogo150x88.gif
http://www.newedgenetworks.com/_gfx/logo.gif
http://www.interactiveonline.net/logo/ecali.gif
http://www.interactiveonline.net/logo/Logo_24.gif
http://www.tophosts.com/images/logo/logo-onwhite.gif
http://innerhost.com/images/toplogoleft.gif
http://www.everyone.net/graphics/logo_wht.gif
http://www.edgehost.com/i/top1.jpg
http://pixelbrick.com/images/top1.gif

Good Luck with your entries :agree:

I didn't have mutch time to create anything and the other contestants are really good, so i don't think i will have any chance.

But i do want to say that i like this competition, there has been so many competitions i entered now, that just stopped being alive.. for some i really worked hard, those peoples should be banned inmidiatelly.

But i don't know anyone here @ WHT so i can't force anyone to vote for me, besides that, davet will choose the one he likes best, i don't know why there is a vote on actually.

I agree with secludo. As a graphic designer, I am very pick when it comes to graphics. Especially, print graphics. That one is the only one that looks professional to me. All the other ones have to much going on. I'm not saying this logo is perfect, cause its not. I think something with the ".net" needs to be done.

I agree, but am not too good with graphic design. Unfortunately I have to include the .net in the logo, since the guy with interactiveonline.com will not give up the domain & he's not even doing anything with it. I am in the process of obtaining a trademark for my company so we can the take it from him :D Unfortunately at this time the .net needs to be included.

I do like the dot on the i on the first logo at http://www.interactiveonline.net/logos/davet1.gif but I like the text on the logo at http://www.interactiveonline.net/logos/davet2.jpg

I was thinking of adding the i thing to the 2nd logo, but wanted it to be yellow or yellow/orange, but I cannot figure out how to create it in yellow. The star-like object in the 1st logo was taken from attached logo below.

Anyone know how to create the star-like object in yellow? Or does anyone know of a good Photoshop tutorial that I can learn?

Best thing to do is play around. Draw what your invisioning on a piece of paper and think about what you could do to achieve that shape in photoshop.

Yes, I agree this is one of my favorites too. I did like the web hosting look, but I am going to be offering the following services in the near future:

Security & Vulnerability Monitoring
Dial-up, DSL, T1 & up
Computer Sales & Repair
Software Sales & Training

So we're not just limited to hosting…

Kinda like when I first started my business, we were called Virtual Storefronts which limited us to ecommerce applications. We ended up changing our name to Interactive Online Corporation so we could have a much larger offering of services.

I don't see how it's being taken out of context or that I'm jumping to conclusions; he mentioned that he'd like criticism on his own logo as well, even though he did not include it in the poll (which I'm assuming is because of the 15 number limit). I think the logo he made himself is the best - I gave him criticism on it. If it were in the poll, I would have voted for it. I won't vote for something else because I don't like the other ones.

Thanks for the feedback, that's exactly what I am looking for… FEEDBACK

I agree, the layout does have a lot of blue squares. I do like the light blue left toolbar with the top logo. The blue squares on the bottom have to go. I was going to replace them with something like http://www.interactiveonline.net/images/icon_web_hosting_click_here.gif & http://www.interactiveonline.net/images/icon_reseller_prices.gif but much larger than they are now.

I am not really sure about the center graphic either, just took it from apc's site for now just to get some opinions :). I would rather have some photo of the hallway of a datacenter. Like you know how they line up all their nice shiny black co-location cabinets or Dell 'walls'? Kinda like http://www.fastservers.net/HTML/images/noc_photo.jpg or http://webhosting.com/images/colo_cabinet.jpg.

Or better yet, maybe a flash intro or something like the following:
www.gearhost.com
www.Hostpacket.net
www.dynastyhost.com
www.newedgenetworks.com/products/
www.frontdrive.com

My logo is simple, I would also like to keep the left sidebars simple too. I like the light blue, with dark blue roll-overs. As for a center picture…not sure if I really want flash, but something inviting… and something that makes the customer think that we really know what we are doing :D

I will probably start a new post so I can get some suggestions on design.

And thanks for the feedback… what are these things you call feelings? :D

:)

As a photograph i would use a duocoloured white blue image of the dell walls for example, and slighly blurred on the left so it looks like it vanishes in white.
On top of it i would add some high tech images, those small things that can give a hightech look. (if u watch some quality wallpapers u know what i mean).
Furthermore the photo needs to be really 3d (ehm hard to explane) anyway with a lot of percepctive in it.

All just my OPINIONS....

Chaps#1 - Nice and clean. The second is better than the first because it splits the two long words, makes for easier reading. The tri-triangle gives the sense of motion, which implies interaction.

creedance#1 - Neat idea with the mouse on button, what's more "interactive" than that? The text is too hard to make out though...looks like 'intarnctiva' with that font. And the 'e' in online is rising to new heights.

creedance#2 - That orange square button looks pretty darn cool. Eyeball implies visual interaction which is a good tie in. The owner may want to consider using that button as a graphic on his site somehow. The text doesn't work though...I guess it shrinks down in perspective too much and is hard to read. Something about the color and font combo doesn't strike me as professional either. Not a critique, but I find it interesting how the top "Interactive" appears to angle away at a higher angle than the bottom "Interactive"...one of the visual tricks just due to the different color backgrounds I think.

creedance#3 - The 'e' in 'Online' should probably have a more complete bottom arc. That head is well done. He's too mean looking though. I like how the orange atomic particle with its grey orbits implies things are going on in the guy's mind, which is interactive. Clean design, I like that. Weird how the guy's face looks fatter with the dark background.

creedance#4 - This makes me think of Mindspring and old style internet companies. It's an interesting idea, but I spend too much time trying to figure out what that thing is and not reading the words. It sort of looks like a surprised guy with his arms out.

DWS#1 - Nice and clean. I like the subdued use of NET that still stands out. It might be too many letters in a row with the words together though. The watermark 'sample by...' is making it hard to read and judge. Nothing wrong with watermarks of course, but this one is slapping more letters in an area that already has a lot.

HelloThere#2 - This is my favorite in terms of creativity. I love the use of I and O in the on and off switch. And, of course, the switch is in the On position. :) The logo doesn't quite work for me though beyond that...the text is a little hard to read. I don't know, just missing some punch to go with the creativity. The owner may want to consider expanding on this idea and see what comes up. I think there is potential here.

ic3d#1 - Hmm. Looks like there was a good idea there that the artist didn't have time to flesh out. I would have made the 'online' straight block instead of splaying it. I'm not sure about the grey arcs.

progex#1 and #2 - The contrasting colors for the two words make it easier to read in each sample. Both have good color combos for their background too, I don't know which I prefer. The 'i' at the front makes it look like 'iInteractiveOnline' though.

progex#3a - I have no idea what the swirling blue/yellow pill is, but it looks neat. I don't understand why the blue and yellow lines don't meet up in the middle, it looks off. And the inner blue swirl shouldn't overlap the blue part of the capsule I don't think, although it might look empty/lopside there without it.

progex#3b - I don't know what the design is in front. This one doesn't do anything for me.

progex#3c - This 'i' in front doesn't look as odd to me as the 'i' in #1 and #2, but it is on the same path. I like the text on these three options, even though it is just block all the way through, the color change and the dot separation make it work. The subdued .net underneath at the end looks good.

s3an#1 - Nice and clean. Even though it has the same color choices almost as the earlier Mindspring one, it doesn't strike me in the same way. No .net of course. The orange blue square with the 'i' in it is good, but the blue half looks like it is missing something. You could put the 'o' of online in there, but the stretched out 'i' might make a round 'o' look odd. If it could be worked out, the i/o box could be a graphic for the site to tie into the logo.

SimonMc#1 - The text is a little too spidery for me, looks a little fragile, makes it a little hard to read as if it was packed tight together. The center red circle looks off center in the outer circle, as if it is a tiny bit too far down to the lower right - is this just an illusion caused by the shading? Other than that, I like this one quite a bit. The red button separates the long words for easier reading and signifies the ability to turn on something, interaction. It also is tied into the red dots over each 'i' in the words and finally, with the 'io' in it, the button could serve as a representative graphic throughout the site in other places where the entire logo isn't called for. If the problems could be ironed out, this would be very good.

SimonMc#2 - Good color choices with the grey and red shades. Even though the red IO square breaks up the words for readability and is tied in with the squares over each 'i', this one doesn't quite work for me. I think the square has too much going on with the three bars extending out and the white corner crest.

Xatron#2 - For some odd reason, this one is easy to read even though the text is all block cap and slightly squished together. Must be good contrasting color choices. The red arc doesn't mesh well with the text for me, it is attached to the 'N' but it doesn't seem to flow.

Owner's Entry#1 - This is nice. It's clean and readable. Doesn't quite grab me though.

Owner's Entry#2 - Good, but #3 is better.

Owner's Entry#3 - You might have something here. The yellow flare over the fron 'i' is a nice visual spark and implies something is happening, things are going on. The larger block type is easy to read, the color contrast nice. The .net has been brought up onto the same line instead of being underneath like #1, but it is still readable...I thought that would have been too many characters in a row, but the dot before 'net' breaks it up enough that the same color is okay. And if it was a different color, it would be too busy with the yellow flare up front making it four colors total. It might be interesting to try making either the dot or 'net' yellow to match the flare and bracket the 'interactiveonline' part. I doubt it would work though because yellow is hard to read. The tag line underneath needs to be dropped though, to me that is definitely too much text in one place, gives me a headache. "Interactive Online" is enough of a description for a logo, adding "Internet Architects" doesn't really add anything I don't think. I like tag lines for company logos where the name isn't descriptive, like Amazon.com or something.

I were to pick one right now, I would go with Owner's Entry#3 minus the tag line or Chaps#1b.

If I were to pick for potential, I would choose SimonMc#1 I think...that has a more unique flavor than the above two choices.

Special mention would go to the button design in creedance#2 and the on/off switch idea in HelloThere#2.

Holy crap, I typed that much? :o

I just wanted to add that the two templates on display at the poll.htm page do not work at all with those logos. The colors clash terribly.

Thanks for the reviews, Lurker. :)

Sorry if I missed this, but when will this poll end?

I like that one too. I don't care if it's his own. If he has to pay the winner of the contest so be it. but he should go with his own logo. I think it's the best out of all of them.

This definetly was an exciting logo contest that I have participated in, and I want to congratulate all the other participants for their outstanding entries.

Good luck in the future for any possible contests, and I wish all of you a good weekend. ;)

No problem, didn't mean to spend so much time on it though. :)

You'd think with all that I typed in, more than one person would have said something. You're all thinking I'm crazy aren't you? :stickout:
